Linda Russo
I am a poet, essay-writer, co-creator and collaborator/editor working in emergent, multispecies ecologies. Through site-based works, I question what it is to live in a fragmented grassland biome given that planetary processes, past and future, are deeply encoded with co-creative knowledge, mutual respect, and caring belonging. I engage settler-colonizer landscapes/land use as ecological, experiential and ideological sites with methods drawn from ecopoetics, feminist geopoetics and ecospheric care. Published books include the verdant, winner of 2023 Halcyon Award for Poetry (Middle Creek Publishing, 2024), Participant (Lost Roads Press, 2016), and Meaning to Go to the Origin in Some Way (Shearsman, 2015), all poetry, and To Think of her Writing Awash in Light (Subito, 2016), a collection of lyrical-literary-geographic essays. I have co-edited Counter-Desecration: A Glossary for Writing Within the Anthropocene (Wesleyan University Press) and Geopoetics in Practice (Routledge). I live on traditional Nimíipuu and Pelúuc homelands, teach at Washington State University and direct EcoartsonthePalouse.com.
