Ana Edwards
Public historian and museum educator for the American Civil War Museum in Richmond, Virginia. Born in Los Angeles, California in 1960, Ana holds a bachelor of arts in Visual Arts (1983) from California State Polytechnic University at Pomona, a master of arts in history and a post-baccalaureate certificate in public history, both from Virginia Commonwealth University (2020).

My fifteen years of activism experience has, for better or worse, nurtured an impulse to combine historical context with contemporary dynamics as a means to understanding and potentially solving problems. My walking tour, and my evaluation of it, reflects a midpoint in that trajectory; it does not specifically address the challenges described above, but the historical reasons for these public transportation inequities were part of my inner public history landscape as I conducted my research; much as they are a backdrop to public expectations for the Pulse’s role in a better Richmond.
