Serial haemodynamic and biochemical measurements were performed before, during, and after treatment. Total renal blood flow (RBF) was measured following an intravenous injection of [99mTc]-DTPA based on a renographic analysis of the first-pass effect in the kidneys, and GFR was estimated from the subsequent clearance of this radiotracer. A significant individual change in RBF or GFR was taken as 25% and 20% respectively. Simultaneous assays of the circulating vasoactive mediators renin, aldosterone, angiotensin II, and atrial natriuretic peptide were performed. It is designed to generate forecasts of gaming revenues in Clark County, whose regional economy is dominated by the gaming industry, an identify the exogenous variables that affect gaming revenues. This model will provide baseline forecasts of Clark County gaming revenues in order to assess changes in gaming related economic activity resulting from future events like the siting of a permanent high-level radioactive waste repository at Yucca Mountain.

This paper presents a demonstration of a phenomenon known as hydro-shifting, which relates to the... more This paper presents a demonstration of a phenomenon known as hydro-shifting, which relates to the provision of two sources of electric power to customers. The extent that these resources are used in each period is shown to depend partly on the time of day in which the power is provided. Although the dispatcher could combine thermal resales with hydro power in equal proportions for its customers in both periods, a rationalization is presented that justifies the withholding of some water until the peak period, with the balance of off-peak demand satisfied in larger proportions by resales of thermal power. Value is optimized for electrical generation, and environmental externalities are incorporated as minimum or maximum flow limitations. This paper also presents evidence that the optimal degree of hydro-shifting depends on the size of the reservoir adjacent to the dam, with this shifting behavior being more pronounced for larger reservoirs.

The study extrapolates manpower and capital requirements for the IT sector in the U.S. to illicit activity over computer networks. Using Bureau of Economic Analysis data, an illicit IT sector was cloned from licit counterparts and simulations conducted in an input-output framework to predict the direct, indirect, and induced economic impacts of illicit activities by some estimates, about $50 B annually, not including theft of games, software or other entertainment by unlicensed users or resellers. Hydroelectric power plants can quickly and inexpensively respond to changes in electricity demand... more Hydroelectric power plants can quickly and inexpensively respond to changes in electricity demand. However, this operational flexibility can cause negative environmental impacts and these environmental effects are mitigated through direct restrictions on hydropower operations, rather than taxes or other market-based mechanisms. A dynamic model of hydroelectric generation is used to derive hourly hydroelectric generation and purchases of replacement power to meet contract demand in the presence of these operational restrictions. The pattern of hydropower generation is shown to depend on differences between on-peak and off-peak spot electricity prices within the operational restrictions set by external regulatory mechanisms.

However they are still inadequate to describe many material properties at high strain rates. By tracking and comparing the motions of individual molecules as functions of strain rate, new ideas might emerge which will allow for the extension of existing models to relevant phenomena at atomic length and timescales. In this study, we focused on the mechanistic dynamics of chains over a wide range of shear rates. In the process of explaining the maximum value in the mean-squared, end-to-end vector vs. Weissenberg number (Wei) curve, we hypothesized that substantial rotational motion of individual chains at high Wei effectively lowers the magnitude of mean-squared, end-to-end vector: as the chains tumble through periodic cycles, they adopt hairpin-like configurations in which the chain ends pass very close to each other. Pharmaceutical companies primarily communicate risk through labelling tools such as the Summary of Product Characteristics (SmPC), package insert, patient information leaflet (PIL) and the carton, which are currently regulated based on templates such as those of the EU. Recent research raises concern about how effective the SmPC is alone in communicating risk. There is some evidence that carton design can influence risk comprehension. Processes to check new trade names cannot be confused with existing names is a simple measure to mitigate one form of risk. In this study, the motions of single chains in the dense liquid (C78H158) and equivalent free-draining dilute solution of bead-rod chains are investigated and also various properties of both systems are examined. The mean-squared, end-to-end vector of the dense liquid increases as Weissenberg (Wei) number increases and obtains maximum value at high Wei. It shows similar behavior and especially attains maximum value at the same value of Wei in dilute solution.
