Four species belonging to four genera in two families were recorded from Gulf of Kachchh, Gujarat. Carinosquilla multicarinata (White, 1848) was recorded for the first time from the west coast of India. Cloridina ichneumon (Fabricius, 1798) was recorded for the first time from Gujarat coast. Gonodactylellus demanii (Henderson, 1893) was reported after 50 years from Gulf of Kachchh, Gujarat, and Gonodactylus smithii Pocock, 1893 is a commonly occurring species in the intertidal zone of the Gulf of Kachchh. Species are described and illustrated with key characters and distributional status in Gulf of Kachchh. An annotated checklist of nine species of Stomatopoda occurring in Gujarat is presented.

J. flavoanulatus was earlier reported from few localities in the Indo-Pacific region. The present record of this species from Goose reef extends its distribution to Gulf of Kachchh, Gujarat. J. flavoanulatus was found rare and sparsely distributed in the undisturbed lower intertidal zone of Goose reef. J. toyamensis was earlier described from the Gujarat coast during 1909 as Antiopella indica. After a century, this species is redescribed here. J. toyamensis was found rare and sparsely distributed in the lower intertidal zone of Sikka coastal belt of Gulf of Kachchh, Gujarat

Fudam coast comprised high diversity of marine crabs (21 species belonging to 15 genera in 09 families) followed by Khukri coast (23 species belonging to 17 genera in 11 families), Nagoa coast (20 species belonging to 16 genera in 12 families) and least crab diversity in Jalandhar coast (17 species belonging to 12 genera in 09 families). Each species is described with habitat and distribution. For population ecological survey seven dominant marine crabs species were selected based on their frequent occurrence i.e., Grapsus albolineatus, Charybdis (Charybdis) annulata, Leptodius affinis, Epixanthus frontalis, Eriphia smithii, Petrolisthes lamarckii and Metopograpsus thukuhar. Population ecological parameters like density, abundance and frequency were carried out through standard formula.

The fishermen in this area use wide range of fishing methods and gears, which evolved traditionally and being adept extensively in Bhavnagar coastline. Livelihood of these fishermen is almost entirely depends on mudskipper fishing and they employ three types of fishing methods to catch them i.e. direct catch through digging the burrow, stick traps around mudskipper holes, and by nylon net. Fishing by using nylon net is the most commonly used method compared to others.

Earlier only one species of the genus Arcania was reported from the West coast of India. A. heptacantha is different from closely resembled species A. septemspinosa in having uniformly granulated carapace and shorter merus of chelipeds in length. Taxonomic insight and distribution status of both the species have been given.

B. Sowerby I, 1828) reported for the first time from Gujarat, India. This species was found in association with soft coral (Dendronephthya sp.) in lower intertidal zone of Sikka coast. A morphological description with key characters, illustrations and geographical distribution of present species are given.

Population ecology dealt with the population dynamics of the species which interact with their surrounding environment. The main concept of population ecology is to predict species distribution within the study area. The dynamics of population shows population size, density and abundance where population size change over time. The resources limitation factor affected the population size where environment sustain maximum population size called carrying capacity.
