Alberto Hermida
Alberto Hermida holds a PhD in Communication from the University of Seville (2014), with the thesis “Collage and audiovisual language: Analysis of the relationships between the artistic technique, its aesthetic principles and the moving image”. He has a degree in Audiovisual Communication with a Special Recognition Award and was granted a scholarship (FPU program) by the Ministry of Education of Spain in 2007. After years of academic study at universities in London, Brighton, and Los Angeles, he is currently Assistant Professor in the Audiovisual Communication and Advertising Department of the University of Seville (Spain) and a member of the Audiovisual History, Language and Technology Research Group. His main lines of research, on which he has presented papers at international conferences and published articles and book chapters, focus on the analysis of audiovisual discourse, art and digital visual culture and aesthetics. Recently, he has edited a book about the representation of the serial killers in TV series (2015) and another one related to the aesthetics and narratives of Spanish new waves cinema (2016).

Debido al gran interés que dicha temática despierta en la actualidad, el presente libro aborda la figura y el contexto del serial killer de la pequeña pantalla desde diferentes áreas de conocimiento, como la Criminología, la Psicología, la Comunicación o la Sociología. Así, partiendo de un recorrido que transita entre el cine, la televisión y la realidad, se analizan aspectos como el perfil y la adaptación audiovisual del asesino, la escena del crimen y su representación en la ficción, o las relaciones que mantiene el homicida tanto con su entorno como con el espectador.
Hannibal Lecter, Dexter Morgan, Errol Childress, Norman Bates, Joe Carroll o John el Rojo, entre otros, son algunos de los personajes sobre los que se profundiza en las páginas de este volumen.
