Michael A Paraskevas
Dr. Paraskevas received an electrical engineering degree from the University of Patras, Greece (1989). In 1995 he received the PhD degree in audio compression techniques using perceptual model of human hearing. His current research interests are in digital signal processing techniques, signal theory, analogue and digital communications, next generation networks and e-government services, as well as in the exploiting the ICTs in the education. He has published more than 45 papers in international journals and conferences, has authored two books and 2 book chapters, he has participated in more than 30 committees of international journals and conferences and his published work has collected more than 290 citations and has been reported in 46 patents. He teaches the courses of Signal and Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Analogue Communications, Digital Communications, Information Society at the undergraduate program (http://www.cied.teiwest.gr/) as also as Digital Communications systems and DSP and Hardware Design courses at postraduate programm of Technologies and Infrastructures for Broadband Applications and Services (http://www.msc.cied.teiwest.gr/mscen/). He has extensive professional experience on issues regarding planning and implementation of large scale network infrastructures, electronic services and exploitation of ICTs in education and manages a large number of corresponding development projects. In implementation of these projects, Dr Paraskevas have dealt extensively with issues of public supply contracts. He is the Director of the Directorate of Greek School Network (http://nts.cti.gr/) at Computer Technology Institute and Press “Diophantus” (www.cti.gr/en). He is also a consultant teacher of the Hellenic Open University (http://www.eap.gr/en/) as well as the Electronic and Computer Engineer Department of the University of Patras (www.ceid.upatras.gr/en) (2002-2008). He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece, IEEE and the Audio Engineering Society.
