Imagine picking up a newspaper and reading, as the headline, that the President and the leader of opposition party in that same country have had a duel. A duel with pistols; where men are shooting at each other with no obvious intent to kill. What country would you imagine that you were reading about? In our own time, such struggles happen in Pakistan, where coups still happen every few years, where the majority of the roads are still unpaved, where education is an impossible dream for all, but a select few. In our country, political battles are not fought with bullets anymore; attack advertisements are our new weapons. The winds of political turmoil are nothing more than the swinging of a pendulum that every five years, or even every 10, or 12 years, oscillates to bring the PPP, then the PML-Q, then the PML-N, into power.

Reading a book is a powerful experience because it can turn little boys and girls into kings and princesses and back gardens into enchanted forests. This project seeks to explore different books meant for the growth of a child. It aims to find out the texts that inspire reading and build a parental connection with young infants, mobile infants, toddlers, and 2-year-old children.

Oedipus the King is a play originally written by Sophocles. While Sophocles develops the mental images along quite specific lines, the imagery of light and darkness used literally of sight and blindness and metaphorically of knowledge, ignorance, and the darkness of Oedipus’s acts.

Is the social environment of organizations integral to their success or failure? Since the social environment influences HR management, it was sensible to discuss the way these changing demographics and emerging roles of social media affect workplaces and the challenges they create for HR practitioners. The paper has established that the emerging role of social media as a social change has impacted the workforce by proving to be the most valuable tool for employees, as it helps them to take a mental break, to make professional connections, to improve information discovery, and to enhance employee recognition and retention. However, it has also created problems for the HR officials since it has altered workplace culture and left the HR practitioners wary of the effect that the uses of these websites have on employee productivity.
 

It is not possible to define love because it belongs to the world of ideas that people cannot capture in words. Regardless of it being for a family member, one’s significant other, a friend, or even a favorite book, at some point of life, every person has felt such emotional attachment towards something or someone. While there are many forms of love, the romantic interest between the people has by far been the most intriguing aspect of research in the scientific community. In the majority of cases, people associate love with the reproduction, which is understandable because a marriage usually results in the continuation of a bloodline. Despite the excessive interest in the human reproduction from the biological point of view, psychologists have been exploring the human mind, when in love, and the results have shown that the phenomenon, which seems so familiar to everyone, is far more complicated.

Nearly every president in the history of the United States has used executive orders during their administrations for different reasons. Some of these reasons might be to direct the heads of national operations, set holidays, regulate the civil service, and exercise presidential war powers. One example of the utilization of the presidential proclamations was during the Civil War when Abraham Lincoln used executive orders to suppress the rebellion and reunite the Northern and Southern states. The proposed project deliberates on the role of executive power in the Civil War and the perpetuation of nationality by President Lincoln. The study is worth conducting because the results can provide insights into the question of whether the president abused his power in preserving the Union and waging war against the Confederacy. Of interest is to evaluate some controversial and non-controversial proclamations issued by Lincoln to address the question of misusing presidential power. The study will end by examining various primary and secondary sources on the use of executive orders during the Civil War era and President Lincoln’s role in the exercise of his power.

Leadership is a highly valued product. It is a process in which a person impacts a group of people to achieve a shared goal. People want to know who the real leaders are and what they do. They are interested in finding out how to become a successful leader, and many books and movies telling about cases of leadership help them in it. The movie Lincoln represents timeless lessons in character, leadership, and communication of the outstanding historical figure of Abraham Lincoln.

Camelot and King Arthur’s Court is speculated to have existed in the Sixth Century. This legend is well-known throughout the Western world and even beyond, yet no original and definitive source for the tales of this legend have been found or agreed upon by researchers. Scholars of Camelot are left with disparate pieces of the story which have been expanded upon throughout the centuries. The Legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table has become timeless and seems to be revived into popular attention in a cyclical pattern. The focus of the tales is always reflecting back the times in which they are told, yet always immersed in human frailties, desires, and lofty ideals.

The role of women receives much attention from American Muslim women. Take an example of women's role in mosques. Until fairly recently the majority of women did not enter the mosques. Some still do not, either because they show no interest in doing so or because men question the aptness of women in that space. In fact, most mosques relegate women to the rear, or sometimes to a separate room, at the time of prayer. But there are efforts by American Muslim women who challenge traditional standards determined by men and are detrimental to women. The most outspoken advocate for such an equal access is an Indian-American journalist-turned-activist Asra Q. Nomani. Standing Alone is an inspiring self-narrative and a quest of an activist who criticizes Muslim men for not allowing equal access to women in mosques where there is no restriction in Islam or in Mecca.

The case for gay rights evokes equality for all gay workers at their workplaces - deeply held value that provides support for policies to extend civil rights protection to disadvantaged minorities. Yet gay rights also evoke in many Christian employees the value of moral traditionalism, which is an important source of opposition to gay rights. Christian Right movements and employees - if not the religious network itself - are continuously raising their voices in opposition to or even actively mobilizing against gay-inclusive policies in their companies. They have long made it its business to fight against gay rights. When one side pursues an issue or a cause, the other generally follows by either countering or initiating a separate but derivative offensive move. This debate is often heated and intense, and the passion associated with the issue stems from the clash of basic social values. Progress for gay rights continued since its foundation, but the debate for equality at workplace for gay workers still continues today

This paper argues that Thomas Aquinas provided a systematic approach to proving God’s existence through the application of logic, based on the presumption that God set creation in motion, and that God is the foundational cause in the continuum of cause and effect.

A piece written during a chaotic period in American history, Arthur Miller's The Crucible, set in Salem, Massachusetts during the seventeenth century, is a reflection of the terror and injustice inflicted upon America by the Red Scare in the 1950s. The reviews, however, following the initial production of the play, were not very receptive to Miller's message.

Studies have revealed that middle school-level students are more apt to excel when challenged by material that both stretches the bounds of their experience and introduces them to new vocabulary and language skills.  Gary Paulsen’s book Hatchet and Doris Buchanan Smith’s A Taste of Blackberries help middle school students and teachers accomplish both of these highly desirable objectives.  These two stories represent departures from the usual children’s fare, which has traditionally avoided subjects publishers consider too disturbing or emotionally complex.  The result of this late-20th-century paradigm is a bland and uniform literary approach that does not allow children to comprehend and come to terms with the more negative aspects of everyday life.  These two stories help motivate middle school learners by challenging them to develop cogitative and emotional coping abilities.

In Dubliners, the Joycean epiphany emerges from set-piece contemplations in a way which reveals the true essence of the character at hand.  Each story leads to some discovery, a sudden realization arrived at through a tortuously achieved conjunction of events and circumstances.  Frequently, this path terminates in disillusionment, the failure of hopes and misapprehended preconceptions.  Such is the case in “Araby,” a story that traces the  course and gradual psychological delusion of the narrator, whose life rises drearily from the grey, uniform world of North Richmond Street, where the houses “gazed at one another with brown, imperturbable faces” (Joyce, 249).  The curiosity and sense of wonder which grips the narrator stands, increasingly, in stark, sad contrast to the limp, still-born environment in which he lives.  It provides a backdrop against which his expectations are symbolically aborted, having led him to this state of unfulfilled anticipation.

Poetry has the enduring quality of capturing the undercurrent of tumultuous emotions that are inextricably tethered to a moment in time. This is more than apparent in the poetry of W.B. Yeats, who wrote during a turbulent time in Irish history. While his beloved country was torn asunder from within and without, Yeats utilized his poetry as an outpouring of personal emotion that was, for a time, intensely private and shared only with friends. Because his poetry was such a labor of love, often reflecting the locales of his youth and expressing his heartfelt sentiments of nationalist pride, it was also a reflection of a broader worldview that is populated with figures from the Irish imagination. Yeats’ poetry is infused with Irish beliefs, which can clearly be seen in such works as “The Stolen Child” and “The Song of Wandering Aengus.”

Most wireless communications providers offer an overwhelming array of plan types, features and add-ons, each one trying to devise packages that provide better value and more services and amenities than the other companies. Here, perhaps more than in other segments of the market, consumers turn to the alternative evaluation and selection process to help work through, and winnow down, the many details. It is through this consumer behavior model that consumer impressions can be assessed and analyzed. The power of the media, the popularity of communications applications and the assigned status of various types of mobile devices however bring preference, impulse and personal opinion into the equation as it does with few other products, with the possible exception of automobiles and clothing. Thus, this report sees the measurement of consumer behavior in the purchase of mobile data devices in a much broader perspective, one that takes into account the influence of trends, fads, human conceit and ego.

The question of generational identity is one that has been the focus of all types of writing just as long as people have known how to write. From the struggles that Absalom had from his father, King David, in the Old Testament, to the psychologically bizarre twists of Oedipus Rex, to the examinations of parent-son relationships in Pat Conroy’s works, the ways younger generations find their individual voices and niches apart from those in which their parents have raised them have fascinated writers and readers alike.
