This paper examines correlated variables of energy resources and growth, and their contribution in aggregate energy
consumption. Its main objective is to identify the efficacy of energy, as well as to find out to which extent an economy is based
on energy in order to extrapolate whether it is highly linked to energy-based industries or not. For this purpose, an empirical
model is regressed for the logarithmic annual stationary data of selected OIC countries over the period 1991-2010. The results
reveal that the GDP growth in Saudi Arabia has led to reduced levels of aggregate energy consumption, and does not for the
UAE in the short-run. Moreover, the economies of Malaysia and Libya are highly linked to energy use especially natural gas in
the long-run. And vice versa for Algeria and Indonesia in which the crude oil and natural gas production are not statistically
significant.

This paper examines a 238 cointegrated stationary observation for the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
over the period 1978-2011. It employs a restricted Vector Autoregressive (VAR) model, and the
estimation method is based on seemingly unrelated regression (SUR) model for a complete system
of equations. The empirical results reveal that the agriculture sector has a negative interrelationship
with FDI and GDP. While the industrial sector achieved a positive linkage with agriculture, export
and service sectors. Furthermore, the FDI inflows have led to reduced levels of imports.

The aim of this paper is to examine the economic costs of the years of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) invasion to Iraqi governorates by assessing the Iraqi economy before and after the encroachment and to provide an overall view of the challenges and opportunities facing the Iraqi economy after the conflict. It uses a simple descriptive method of data analysis using analytical tools such as percentages, tables, and figures to achieve the objectives of the inquiry. Data for the study were generated from national and international references. The results show that the conflict, along with falling international oil prices, resulted in a weakened financial system, lower levels of gross domestic product, and higher poverty. A substantial increase in the unemployment rate, debilitated education, and large damages to infrastructure were also experienced. The transportation sector plays a critical role in balanced economic and regional development, as well as affording a great deal of influence on national integration into the world economic market. This paper studies current trends in the maritime sector in Iraq and presents some recommendations to improve maritime transport and ports’ efficiency in order to enhance economic development. Various problems and obstacles faced by the ports of Iraq, which have piled up during the last three decades, acted as a major setback in its underdevelopment and weakened its functional capacity, and limited its role in economic development. Therefore, the government should formulate policies that would encourage foreign and private participation in the maritime sector of the economy.
