I am also a faculty member in the Chicana and Chicano Studies Program at the University of New Mexico. In Fall 2016, I began the process of designing online courses for our online B.A. in Chicana and Chicano Studies here at the University of New Mexico. In Fall 2019, our department began offering M.A. and Ph.D. degrees.
Recently, I was a contracted educator for the History and Literary Arts Department at the National Hispanic Cultural Center and I work with other educators in the Department of Cultural Affairs in the state of New Mexico.
Prior to this position I was a faculty member in the department of Humanities at Northern New Mexico College.
I was also the director for the Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America at Brown University. I was also a visiting lecturer in Ethnic Studies. I have taught American Indian Studies at Brown. I served as both the concentration and honors thesis adviser for Ethnic Studies.
At University of New Mexico, I have taught in the American Studies department, the Chicano/Hispano/Mexicano Department, the English Department and in Women's Studies.
An academic essay was recently published in the new edition of the Third Woman Press anthology and an academic review of Jose E. Limon's book: _Americo Paredes: Culture and Critique_ was published in _Aztlan: A Journal of Chicana and Chicano Studies_.
Along with all of my academic work, I also am working on more creative projects. Through Santa Clara Pueblo and the Flowering Tree Permaculture Institute, our Pueblo Food Experience Cookbook was published by Museum of New Mexico Press in Fall 2016. I have also recently published poetry and a few creative non-fiction essays.
My ancestry is in the llano estacado. I was born and raised in the southern plains of Northwest Texas and Eastern New Mexico.

Introduction: Mexico is one of the countries that is most affected by mortality due to COVID-19. Once infected, the indigenous population living in the lower-income states had worse outcomes. Our objectives were to analyze outcomes by ethnic group, and determine the association between state-level income and the incidence, hospitalizations, outpatients, and death rates per 100,000 population. Methodology: We analyzed 1,037,567 confirmed COVID-positive cases from February 29 to November 13, 2020 recorded in the Mexican COVID-19 cases database. Sociodemographic characteristics, comorbidities, and outcomes were analyzed. Data was allocated according to the state where the patients were treated. Statistical association between age-adjusted incidence and death rates with state-level GDP per capita (as a measure of income), were ascertained using Spearman correlations.
