Books
The work is structured in five chapters, preceded by an introduction, in which I highlighted the importance of studying antimension, the state of research and the sources of the work, and followed by conclusions, appendices and bibliography. In the first chapter, I emphasized the connection between the Holy Table, eilēton, aēr, epitaphion and antimension. In the second chapter of the work and the most extensive, I captured these aspects at length, as well as other things related to the etymology, the inclusion of relics, the matter, the form, the dimensions, the iconography and the inscriptions of the antimensions, and in the third chapter I considered the evolution of the consecration rituals of the antimension from the earliest Byzantine euhologions, as well as from the editions of the modern Greek euhologions and not only. Their content and Romanian translation were attached at the end of the paper, in the Appendices section. The fourth chapter of the work contains information about the methods of decommissioning the damaged antimensions, and the fifth chapter of the work analyzes the earliest antimensions from the territory of the Romanian Countries preserved until today.
Second edition.
As many believers and visitors of this church testify, the fragrance of those times is felt every time they stepped through its doorway. This is due to both the impressive dimensions and the combination of different architectural styles; the harmony of these elements is completed by the beautiful stained glass windows, especially ordered and made in Vienna in 1912. Although it is recognized as the most spacious and beautiful church of the capital of Romania, over the years, the construction was partially damaged in the modern times by the earthquake of 1940 and the bombings of 1944. However, through the care of the third Patriarch of Romania, Justinian Marina, the church was extensively repaired and consolidated, being reconsecrated on October 24, 1954 by a group of hierarchs led by the Patriarch of Romania and the Patriarch Cyril of Bulgaria, the latter one then visiting our country. Other repairings were carried out between 1966-1970, 1986-1990 and, starting with 2009, with the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, Saint Spyridon the New church underwent an extensive restoration process, the works being supervised by Archimandrite Veniamin Goreanu (currently bishop of Southern Bessarabia) and Father Ionuț-Gabriel Corduneanu, patriarchal administrative vicar, currently the coordinating priest of the church.
In 2012, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel awarded the church the rank of Metropolitan Cathedral of the Metropolis of Muntenia and Dobrogea.
