Yet, the way the model is examined the other way around is relatively scarce in halal tourism literature. The originality of this research lies in the model use in testing the effect of companion type and destination choice, moderated by different levels of religiosity, on Muslim tourists' assessment of the importance of Islamic attributes in halal tourism.
Research Objectives: This study aims to examine the effect of Muslim tourists' preferences in terms of companion type and destination choice, moderated by their level of religiosity, on their assessment of the importance of Islamic attributes in halal tourism.
Research Methods: Friedman and Cochran's Q non-parametric tests were conducted on 189 data collected online to examine the direct effects of companion type, destination choice, and religiosity on Muslim tourists' assessment of the importance of Islamic attributes. Model 1 of the Hayes Process Macro with binary logistic was employed to examine the moderating effect of religiosity.
Empirical Results: The results showed that companion type, religiosity, and destination choice significantly affected Indonesian Muslim travellers' assessment of the importance of Islamic attributes. However, the moderating role of religiosity was not observed.
Implications: The findings have implications for Muslim travellers' decision-making literature and may offer better strategies for tourism businesses to attract and retain more Muslim tourists.

The first study manipulated product characters, fonts, colors and storytelling styles to determine the cutest packaging elements. Packaging samples containing the cutest elements from Study 1 were tested for their effect on purchase intention in Study 2, moderated by product familiarity.FindingsAnthropomorphized product characters, curvy, handwritten-like fonts, a mixture of colors and superhero story-like product information were considered the whimsically cutest packaging elements by young adults. Whimsically cute packaging design can bridge consumer product unfamiliarity and generate higher purchase intention.Practical implicationsWhimsically cute packaging design could be a promising alternative for marketers promoting unfamiliar products to young adult consumers.Originality/valueThis study's findings complement existing literature on cute packaging design, whimsical cuteness and extrinsic cue utilization theory.

Meanwhile, children's pro‐environmental behaviour in emerging Asian nations tends to be passive, leading to a need for intervention from the closest parties, often the parent, whose familial role in green communication has not been examined. This study uses social learning theory to examine the interplay of parent‐like spokespeople and message appeals in affecting young adults' cognitive and emotional responses, which is expected to influence the ad liking and believability of green advertisements and switching intention to green products, such as eco‐friendly straws. A laboratory experiment was conducted with 240 subjects. The results showed that the frame of a father‐like figure conveying a hope appeal generated the greatest enthusiasm and argument quality for young adults. Mother‐like figures speaking a fearful message frame were the best generator for young adults' anger and threat appraisal. Ad liking was significantly impacted only by a mother‐like spokesperson who spoke a fearful appeal mediated by anger and a father‐like spokesperson who delivered a hope appeal mediated by argument quality. Young adults' willingness to switch to eco‐friendly straws was indirectly influenced by the interaction effect of a mother‐like spokesperson and fear appeal type mediated by ad believability.

Improving financial literacy among Indonesian youth is a long-term effort that requires multicollaboration between the government, financial institutions, educational institutions, NGOs, and other stakeholders. Despite its substandard position to Singapore, Myanmar, and Malaysia, Indonesia's financial literacy proficiency has improved significantly-one of which-after being catalyzed by the government's cooperation with higher education institutions through community service programs. However, amid these improvements, greater attention must be given to capital markets, whose literacy level is most deficient compared to the banking, insurance, financing, pension fund, and financial technology sectors. By referring to the source credibility theory and PROSEM (problem rooting, solution treatments, and measurement) procedures, this study aims to improve vocational school students' capital market literacy and determine the better expert (academician versus regulator experts) in providing basic capital market training to Indonesian vocational school students. Using 118 trainees, 59 each in classrooms trained by an academic and a capital market regulator separately, descriptive analysis along with ANOVA, pairedsample test, and independent samples test was used to observe the pre-and post-test of capital market literacy training. The results demonstrate significant improvement in students' capital market literacy after the training. This study has demonstrated that credible trainers, especially those perceived as experts, are more effective as financial literacy sources for the trainees in capital market basic training. It also observes the role of religion in the relationship between literacy and the intention to use Islamic financing. Design/methodology/approach The participants were of 60 owners of micro and small entrepreneurs who were made up of 30 Muslims and 30 non-Muslims. An Islamic financing counseling was conducted on 30 non-Muslims, and data were obtained relating to literacy and intention after the counseling. The data were analyzed using statistical descriptive, associative and comparative test. assistance... more Interest gaps exist between the university and the small firms when running a business assistance program, leading to the importance of practical guidance that could accommodate both partners’ interests. However, there is relatively little literature about how the university team should implement business assistance to a small partnering firm. Accordingly, this research used three stages and a mixed-method approach to solve the problem, involving qualitative and quantitative techniques and action research. This study introduced PROSEM, an acronym for problem rooting, solution treatment, and measurement, to guide university business assistance to small firms by adopting the design thinking paradigm. The results revealed a significant impact on the SME’s business performance. The PROSEM process further proved that a measurable and well-planned treatment based on the root causes could increase revenue and production volume and reduce the returned product rate. At the same time, this study enriches researchers’ knowledge and skills in developing the concept and guidelines of a systematic problem-solving method using unique, real cases in the small business community. As such, the PROSEM affirms that design thinking is an open and adjustable concept which can be embedded and modified in various problemsolving procedures.

A qualitative approach was employed, primarily conducting in-depth interviews and brainstorming with business owners, employees, store managers, and consumers of "Wajik Tapai" in Riau Province, in the framework of root cause analysis. The result revealed that the distinct causes identified as the driver of the small firm's income stagnation could be rooted in four perspectives, i.e., product durability, non-ergonomic working layout with a traditional process, conventional/offline marketing, and variability of product.

not clear, and an effect... more How best to satisfy the needs and wishes of Muslim hotel guests is still not clear, and an effective tool is necessary for measuring the extended service of Muslim-friendly hotels. The study aims to formulate an instrument to assess the quantity and quality of halal items and to classify hotels based on the absorption level. The tool is referred to as MATEL, an acronym for “Muslim-Friendly Assessment Tool for Hotels,” and examines four critical elements: a hotel’s products and services, management, human resources, and finances. The study evaluated 12 subcategories and 38 operational areas. In general, the MATEL accommodates and safeguards the Islamic values within the hotel’s commercial aspects. This paper discusses the practical and theoretical implications of the MATEL and features suggestions for future work.

The implementation of a manipulative ex-officio system that tends to perpetuate the oligarchy will cause a corrupt behavior in the governance of private higher education institutions. To date, studies on ex-officio related to higher education governance have never been discussed academically. The purpose of this study, thus, aims to criticize the application of ex-officio and its potential consequences in the supervision system at private higher education institutions. The study used a qualitative exploratory and the literature study was employed. The result reveals that the ex-officio is a legal model used in many higher education institutions. However, in its application it can lead to conflicts of interest and abuse of power which in turn has the potential of corrupt behavior university governance.

Authors determine the strategies to resolve the dilemmas based on the situation of the tourism business operators. The study engaged with the situations of halal business operators. The data were collected through in-depth interview with four tourism operators in Indonesia who won the best halal category award by The World Halal Travel Award in Dubai. The results of this study found that all participants choose to be Muslim-friendly business instead of pure sharia business. This business process transformation helps to expand their market segment to Muslim tourists at tolerable cost. The existing dilemmas by tourism industry are no formal standard of halal criteria, high-cost business transactions, lack of sharia-competent human resources, and lack of tourism promotions. Niche market-based premium price could be a solution to compensate the additional high cost and potential lost that may occur in case of transforming conventional business into halal business platform.

Originality/value – Previous studies about Islamic financing have been mostly conducted by using survey among the Muslim population. Therefore, this study combines both survey and experiment by providing Islamic literacy counseling to non-Muslims.

This study aims to map the role of influencer and decision maker and so as to analyze millennial student’s information search behavior for private universities. Respondent consists of 200 new students in seven private universities located in Riau Province, Indonesia. Data analyzed by using descriptive and chi-square for non-parametric statistic. Study reveals that millennial students autonomously become either prime influencer or decision maker in selecting campus destination. The main information source for millennial students are digital platforms and their peer community. There is no significant relationship between student's background and role of influencer. Meanwhile, student’s area of origin and their working status have a significant relationship with the role of final decision making. On the contrary, parents’ domicile, previous high school, and choice of study department have no significant relationship with the role of final decision making. The most important information for private university applicants are the availability and completeness of campus facilities, detail of tuition fee, and information of scholarship opportunities

Study reveals that Faculty of Computer Science, Faculty of Economic and Faculty of Law have the highest competitive power based on income ability perspective. These three faculties have high relative market share and high income growth rate. Research datas are secondary that consist of Gross Domestic Product, economic growth and sectoral economic contribution, and then processed and interpreted by using Location Quotion, Shift Share Analysis and Klassen Typology. Study reveals that all sectors in Indragiri Hulu regency have chance to be the target of investment marketing strategy. Eventhough, not all of them are leading sectors, deficit sectors, however, also have chance to be the potential investment target to supply the unmet local and regional needs. General phenomenon of HEI'sIQAS,so far, is still away from qualified and even practically tends to be manipulative. This literature-based article aims to review the role of leadership in campus political practice and the urgence of external professional usage in order to improve internal quality assurance in HEI. The study reveals that improper campus political practice has become the bottleneck for the effectiveness of IQAS. It needs a fundamental change of top leader's paradigm, particularly in the policy of internal auditor placement. A revolutionary breakthrough of hiring external professional tobe placed as internal auditor seems to be needed, specifically to keep the independency and objectivity, as well as to assure the qualified performance of all units in HEI.

It also observes the role of religion in the relationship between literacy and the intention to use Islamic financing. Design/methodology/approach The participants were of 60 owners of micro and small entrepreneurs who were made up of 30 Muslims and 30 non-Muslims. An Islamic financing counseling was conducted on 30 non-Muslims, and data were obtained relating to literacy and intention after the counseling. assistance... more Interest gaps exist between the university and the small firms when running a business assistance program, leading to the importance of practical guidance that could accommodate both partners’ interests. However, there is relatively little literature about how the university team should implement business assistance to a small partnering firm. Accordingly, this research used three stages and a mixed-method approach to solve the problem, involving qualitative and quantitative techniques and action research. This study introduced PROSEM, an acronym for problem rooting, solution treatment, and measurement, to guide university business assistance to small firms by adopting the design thinking paradigm. The results revealed a significant impact on the SME’s business performance. The PROSEM process further proved that a measurable and well-planned treatment based on the root causes could increase revenue and production volume and reduce the returned product rate. At the same time, this study enriches researchers’ knowledge and skills in developing the concept and guidelines of a systematic problem-solving method using unique, real cases in the small business community. As such, the PROSEM affirms that design thinking is an open and adjustable concept which can be embedded and modified in various problemsolving procedures.

A qualitative approach was employed, primarily conducting in-depth interviews and brainstorming with business owners, employees, store managers, and consumers of "Wajik Tapai" in Riau Province, in the framework of root cause analysis. The result revealed that the distinct causes identified as the driver of the small firm's income stagnation could be rooted in four perspectives, i.e., product durability, non-ergonomic working layout with a traditional process, conventional/offline marketing, and variability of product.

The study aims to formulate an instrument to assess the quantity and quality of halal items and to classify hotels based on the absorption level. The tool is referred to as MATEL, an acronym for “Muslim-Friendly Assessment Tool for Hotels,” and examines four critical elements: a hotel’s products and services, management, human resources, and finances. The study evaluated 12 subcategories and 38 operational areas. In general, the MATEL accommodates and safeguards the Islamic values within the hotel’s commercial aspects. This paper discusses the practical and theoretical implications of the MATEL and features suggestions for future work.

The implementation of a manipulative ex-officio system that tends to perpetuate the oligarchy will cause a corrupt behavior in the governance of private higher education institutions. To date, studies on ex-officio related to higher education governance have never been discussed academically. The purpose of this study, thus, aims to criticize the application of ex-officio and its potential consequences in the supervision system at private higher education institutions. The study used a qualitative exploratory and the literature study was employed. The result reveals that the ex-officio is a legal model used in many higher education institutions. However, in its application it can lead to conflicts of interest and abuse of power which in turn has the potential of corrupt behavior university governance.

Authors determine the strategies to resolve the dilemmas based on the situation of the tourism business operators. The study engaged with the situations of halal business operators. The data were collected through in-depth interview with four tourism operators in Indonesia who won the best halal category award by The World Halal Travel Award in Dubai. The results of this study found that all participants choose to be Muslim-friendly business instead of pure sharia business. This business process transformation helps to expand their market segment to Muslim tourists at tolerable cost. The existing dilemmas by tourism industry are no formal standard of halal criteria, high-cost business transactions, lack of sharia-competent human resources, and lack of tourism promotions. Niche market-based premium price could be a solution to compensate the additional high cost and potential lost that may occur in case of transforming conventional business into halal business platform.

This study aims to map the role of influencer and decision maker and so as to analyze millennial student’s information search behavior for private universities. Respondent consists of 200 new students in seven private universities located in Riau Province, Indonesia. Data analyzed by using descriptive and chi-square for non-parametric statistic. Study reveals that millennial students autonomously become either prime influencer or decision maker in selecting campus destination. The main information source for millennial students are digital platforms and their peer community. There is no significant relationship between student's background and role of influencer. Meanwhile, student’s area of origin and their working status have a significant relationship with the role of final decision making. On the contrary, parents’ domicile, previous high school, and choice of study department have no significant relationship with the role of final decision making. The most important information for private university applicants are the availability and completeness of campus facilities, detail of tuition fee, and information of scholarship opportunities

Study reveals that all sectors in Indragiri Hulu regency have chance to be the target of investment marketing strategy. Eventhough, not all of them are leading sectors, deficit sectors, however, also have chance to be the potential investment target to supply the unmet local and regional needs. Research Objectives: This study aims to examine the effect of Muslim tourists' preferences in terms of companion type and destination choice, moderated by their level of religiosity, on their assessment of the importance of Islamic attributes in halal tourism.
Research Methods: Friedman and Cochran's Q non-parametric tests were conducted on 189 data collected online to examine the direct effects of companion type, destination choice, and religiosity on Muslim tourists' assessment of the importance of Islamic attributes. Model 1 of the Hayes Process Macro with binary logistic was employed to examine the moderating effect of religiosity.
Empirical Results: The results showed that companion type, religiosity, and destination choice significantly affected Indonesian Muslim travellers' assessment of the importance of Islamic attributes. However, the moderating role of religiosity was not observed.
Implications: The findings have implications for Muslim travellers' decision-making literature and may offer better strategies for tourism businesses to attract and retain more Muslim tourists.
