Building key digital competencies is one of the main tasks in modern secondary school education. ... more Building key digital competencies is one of the main tasks in modern secondary school education. For the realization of this task, packages of strategic documents have been developed at the global, European and national level regarding the study of AI in all degrees and forms of education both in higher and secondary schools. In the EU, the DigComp 2.2 framework was created, in which 5 groups of key competences are defined with four levels of construction defined: fundamental, intermediate, advanced and highly specialized. The report analyzes the accumulated experience and examines some approaches and possibilities for building some of these digital competences through the teaching of Artificial Intelligence in the secondary school.

This creates problems in building key digital competencies related to programming, according to the European Union’s DigComp strategic framework. Since information technology is studied at all levels of education and participates as a profile subject in many professions and profile classes as compulsory or elective modules, this discipline can be used to fill these gaps. The article examines an approach for applying block programming and robotics in elective modules in profiled IT training at the second-high school level. The report presents an approach to building of interdisciplinary links in computer modelling training through a block programming language. The constructive approach and the easy visualization of the various options for solutions make it possible to make a propaedeutic of still unexplored knowledge of mathematics, physics, astronomy and others. Working on projects that solve certain practical problems gives students the opportunity to get acquainted with elements of combinatory, optimization, the laws of uniform motion, space objects, number theory and more. The authors will share their experience in developing exemplary interdisciplinary assignments.

The e-learning environment known as VES (the Virtual Education Space) was created at the Universi... more The e-learning environment known as VES (the Virtual Education Space) was created at the University of Plovdiv “Paisii Hilendarski” in Bulgaria step by step for years as each subsequent version was built on the previous one. Initially a learning system called DeLC (the Distributed e-Learning Center) has been implemented to support blended and independent learning at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at the university. DeLC was a successful project, but we identified some problems, connected with interactions between the virtual and the physical world where in fact the learning process takes place. In the following period, we started the development of ViPS (the Virtual Physical Space) based on concepts of CPSS (Cyber-Physical-Social System) and IoT (Internet of Things). This article presents the modeling and development of an intelligent multi-agent learning environment for the secondary school, developed by a team of the DeLC laboratory at the University of Plovdiv “Paisii Hilendarski”, Bulgaria. The learners are placed at the focus of the environment by personal assistants supporting work with the environment.

For several years now, the education in informatics and programming in high school has been reali... more For several years now, the education in informatics and programming in high school has been realized only as a profiled or elective subject. On the other hand, information technologies are studied in all forms and participate as a profiling subject in many professions and specialized classes. The problem related to the construction of digital competencies in coding is already successfully solved with the introduction of computer modelling from 3rd grade as a compulsory subject. However, most of today’s high school students have deficits in these competencies. The article considers an approach for application of block programming in elective modules in the profiled training in IT in the second-high school degree. Solving specific practical tasks through coding increases the activity and motivation of students and allows them to build the key competencies necessary for their successful professional realization in the digital age.

When developing a system for intelligent agriculture, it is necessary to consider the spatial aspects of intelligent IoTs. For this purpose, we use ambient-oriented CCA (Calculus of Context-aware Ambients) modeling, for the implementation of which we have created a special tool – a visual CCA editor, through which we model and verify the basic scenarios in the smart agriculture system.

Launched in March 2021, the National Research Program “Intelligent Plant Breeding” sets the task to develop models for efficient blockchains for intelligent agriculture in Bulgaria. The report presents a model for the development of a supply chain based on blockchain technologies, which includes the following as separate channels: the BG Gene Bank, farmers-curators, farmers-producers, food producers, a trade network of stores, logistics, and transport, financial and insurance institutions, distributors, government regulators, etc.

The three ontologies are in the fields of botany, literature and history of Bulgaria, and architecture of Revival houses. The article presents examples of automatically generated questions for each of them.
