Pablo Simpson é poeta, tradutor e professor do Departamento de Letras Modernas da Unesp/São José do Rio Preto. Doutor em Teoria e História Literária pela UNICAMP. Fez pesquisa pós doutoral em literatura comparada (FMSH-Paris) e brasileira (USP) e foi professor de Língua e Civilização Brasileiras na Université de Yaoundé. É autor de O Rumor dos cortejos: poesia cristã francesa do século XX (Ed. Unifesp), de Rastro, hesitação e memória: o tempo na poesia de Yves Bonnefoy (Ed. Unesp), e de estudos sobre poesia e crítica brasileira e francesa.

ABSTRACT: This presentation aims to discuss aspects of Brazilian graduate studies in Letters from the perspective of its evaluations, which have become one of the important areas of investigation. It considers, therefore, the notion of "culture of performativity" and aspects of the asymmetry between scientific production and reception.
Abstract: This essay aims to cover the recurrence of a single verse by Baudelaire, "Hypocrite lecteur, mon semblable, mon frère", from the opening poem of Les Fleurs du Mal, in three poems by Brazilian poets: "Fogo do final" by Ana Cristina Cesar, "Dez sonetóides mancos" by Paulo Henriques Britto and "Modo de usar" by Marcos Siscar. It is about the resumption of Baudelaire in the inter-textual perspective of a writing-through, as Marjorie Perloff points out in Unoriginal genious, which allows not only to consider the participation of the poet in a larger and more public discourse, but to think about the status of this relationship between poet and reader. In the three poems a certain place of reading/quotation from another work seems to be explicit, which comes up, precisely, in the verse in which the reader's moral place is questioned.

This paper presents and contextualizes the publication of an article by Mu- rilo Mendes in 1948 titled “A Revolutionary Book”, on the book The Lord (Der Herr, 1937) by Italian-German theologian Romano Guardini. Starting with the study of per- sonal libraries of religious writers, we intend to situate Mendes’ article in the context of the aesthetic and theological disputes in Brazilian Catholic thought, and understand how reading Guardini influenced Mendes’ poetry.

Abstract: The aim of this article is to present a translation of the poem "A Monteczuma" by the Cameroonian poet and theologian Engelbert Mveng (1930-1995) as well as contextualize two aspects of his theology that could be noted in the poem: the debate, on the one hand, on the inculturation of the Catholic message in the African context, on the other, the Christian ethics that Mveng pushes back to the understanding of African prayers as the cradle of a "transcendent and absolute" monotheism.

Este estudo pretende investigar as relações entre poesia e tempo. Há nos poemas de Anti-Platon e Du Mouvement et de l’immobilité de Douve, tanto quanto nos ensaios de L’Improbable, a condenação de um inteligível abstrato em virtude do esquecimento do tempo. A poesia repercutiria uma tensão entre interioridade conceitual e exterioridade. As palavras do poema evocariam um apagamento: rastro, presença ausente. A perda se tornaria a origem da linguagem poética. Através da leitura dos poemas de Du Mouvement et de l’immobilité de Douve, Hier régnant désert, Pierre écrite, Dans le leurre du seuil, [8] Ce qui fut sans lumière e Les Planches courbes, e das narrativas L’Arrière-pays, Rue Traversière e Le Théâtre des enfants, este estudo buscará compreender a poesia de Yves Bonnefoy a partir das noções de rastro, hesitação e memória. Dividido em cinco capítulos principais, trata-se da tentativa de situar a sua poesia, a um só tempo, como expressão e reflexão de cada um desses lugares.”
