Laura Doyle
Laura Doyle is Professor of English at University of Massachusetts-Amherst and Co-director of the World Studies Interdisciplinary Project (http://wsipworldstudies.wordpress.com/ She is the winner of the Immanuel Wallerstein Prize from the American Sociology Association for her most recent book: Inter-imperiality: Vying Empires, Gendered Labors, and The Literary Arts of Alliance. Her other books include Bordering on the Body: The Racial Matrix of Modern Fiction and Culture (Oxford), and Freedom’s Empire: Race and the Rise of the Novel in Atlantic Modernity, 1640-1940 (Duke), as well as the edited collections, Geomodernisms (with Laura Winkiel) and Bodies of Resistance: New Phenomenologies of Politics, Agency, and Resistance. Doyle's interdisciplinary work has appeared in journals ranging from Globalizations and Modernism/Modernity to Interventions and American Literature. She has also co-edited a PMLA cluster, "Reframing Postcolonial and Global Studies in the Longue Duree" and edited a special issue of Modern Fiction Studies on “Inter-imperiality.” The Introductions to these are posted here.
