Much has been said about the relationship between Lacanian psychoanalysis and structural linguistics deriving from Saussure and Jakobson. However, such comments about this relationship are marked by prejudice and unknowns. Based on the analysis of some examples of criticisms of Lacan about their use of structural linguistics, this paper seeks to highlight some elements of the course of Lacan that would allow a different interpretation of its dialogue with Saussure. An interpretation based on no more the significant element, but on the whole question of the value of the linguistic sign.

Today, the clinical manifestations of psychological distress are quite different from the paralysis and neuralgia encountered by Freud in the treatment of hysterical patients. The most common complaints of patients include clinical symptoms such as eating disorders (anorexia and bulimia), drug and alcohol addiction, psychosomatic manifestations, excessive consumption of medications, among others. This contrast leads us to ask whether these changes in the expression of psychological distress suggest that psychoanalysis, as Freud proposed, is outdated and thus inadequate to address current clinical issues. In fact, this study aims to develop the opposite idea. The purpose of this paper is to specifically defend the relevance of the Freudian proposal presented in the book "Civilization and its discontents", from 1929-1930, aiming to situate the discontent inherent in culture in its different periods, although with different forms of expression. Zygmunt Bauman, author dedicated to studying the contemporary world, considering it a new era – postmodernity, develops in one of his books a dialogue with Freud's text, placing the current society as quite different from that of Freud's time. In the book, "Postmodernity and its discontents", Bauman talks about an imperative drive for consumption and demand for satisfaction as an implicit order in our contemporary society and proposes to discuss the effects of this imperative drive in postmodern man; contrasting with the imperative of self-denial and restraint, social theme of modernity. What is observed, however, is that the discontent persists. The discussion raised by the paper points out the radical character and timelessness of the discontent reported by Freud as inherent in culture, supporting the hypothesis that the specificities of the contemporary context that sometimes appear under the name of postmodernity express our culture's responses to the discontent, and not changes in its configuration – the inadequacy of man in the world persists, as described by Freud.

Objective is the link between narcissism and the guilt in the context of a postmodern society. Is presented two aspects of the guilt. One, as the decline of the guilt in the civilization in your perspective which corresponds today to a social organization perverse and narcissistic. Another as an exacerbation of this feeling towards the subject itself, corresponding to the contemporary requirements of beauty, enjoyment and youth.

This study aims to present some remarks which we understand that are crucial to guide a research with psychoanalytical orientation. We must highlight that our main interest is to formulate a defense of the psychoanalytic method in the production of research, especially those eminently theoretical. We take as starting point the questioning of the legitimacy of an opposition between a pure psychoanalysis and the other applied – theory and clinical practice – showing that this dualism cannot be sustained by psychoanalysis, as if they were separated compartments. Then, we characterize the specificity of the psychoanalytic method, based on listening and interpretation, emphasizing the possibility of its application to other situations then the one stricly found at the cabinet, as long as we keep the same requirements from clinical practice. After, we underline how the arbitrary function of the interpreter may, at the same time, provide the power and the limitations of the psychoanalytical method. Finally, we try to point out some directions for psychoanalytic research, stressing the importance of the work of construction in analysis and speculation for the researcher.

This article aims to expose a clinical case treated at the Center for Psychosocial Care (CAPS) from Santos Dumont / MG. To do so, and considering the particularity of the case will be developed an ethnographic study of the family where you insert the subject in question. Later, raise possibilities of articulation between the research methods of ethnography and psychoanalysis. Finally, we analyze in the light of Lacanian theory of psychosis, how this guy has embarked on a creative work that stabilized his psychosis.

This article intends to emphasize that the psychoanalytic notion of symptom can bring some contribution to the treatment of symptoms of language and speech. From Lacan´s readings of Freudian notion of the symptom, it is suggested that this concept may be used in phonoaudiology clinic in order to overcome the mere description of symptoms in favor of its interpretation, thus helping to avoid reducing symptoms of language and speech to physiological pathologies or deviations from the rules of the language. Thus, we present a brief history of the different conceptions of symptoms in the field of phonoaudiology. In order to emphasize that the use of the psychoanalytic notion of symptoms in phonoaudiology does not culminate in an infinite interpretation of the meaning of the symptom, it is emphasized that the symptom is defined not only as structured like a language and a bearer of meaning, but also as pulsional satisfaction. Therefore, this concept applied to the treatment of symptoms of speech and language can contribute to embrace the uniqueness of the cases and their subjective positions, without prejudice in the application of phonoaudiology techniques.
