This paper focuses the semantic conception of truth and takes it as a thesis about the priority of significance in relation to the truth. It's argued that the deflacionary conception of truth is inadequate, on the allegation that the significance envelops inferential and referential relations, and on the allegation that the predicament of truth involves the assignment of existence.

In this paper I defend that semantic description and ontological postulation of entities are distinct issues, on the argument that semantic concepts are distinct of ontological ones. I will argue that the postulation of an entity imply an identification criteria, namely, the truth of an assertion of identity between two devices of designation. This seems to imply that the existence of the entity be warranted directly by the existence of an identification criteria. But this is a significance condition for a referential term, namely, that it codify an identifying description. This identifying description can’t be confused with an existence condition for that entity.

O propósito destes ensaios é apresentar a Filosofia da Linguagem a partir de perspectivas divergentes, as quais apesar das diferenças têm em comum o fato de, primeiro, abandonarem as concepções modernas e tradicionais da linguagem como objeto, e, segundo, colocarem a linguagem como o lugar dos problemas e o meio pelo qual estes se resolvem: a abordagem hermenêutica, fundada por Friedrich Daniel Ernst Schleiermacher (1768-1834), a abordagem lógico-semântica, inaugurada por Friedrich Ludwig Gottlob Frege (1848-1925), e a abordagem pragmática, introduzida por Charles Sanders Peirce (1839-1914) e desenvolvida por John L. Austin (1911-1960). Essas perspectivas teóricas, inauguradas no século XIX, justificam ainda hoje a necessidade e a prioridade da consideração e da análise da linguagem na atividade filosófica. Além disso, pretende-se apresentar teorias e modelos do significado linguístico, tendo como foco principal o problema da fixação do conteúdo semântico das expressões e o problema da equivalência semântica entre expressões diferentes. Essa abordagem da linguagem por meio do conceito de conteúdo semântico permitirá que se discuta de modo unificado os problemas das perspectivas apresentadas, sobretudo no que se refere às relações entre linguagem, ação, pensamento e mundo.

O conceito de objeto foi esvaziado pelas principais doutrinas filosóficas recentes sob a alegação de que a consciência e ou a linguagem constituem a objetividade dos
objetos. A tese da relatividade ontológica, nas versões fenomenológicas e lógico-semânticas, tornou-se consensual e prédomina o pensamento filosófico e científico. Que esta predominância tenha de ser repensada poucos percebem, embora já se perceba que esse consenso está fundado em bases infundadas. Na origem desse esvaziamento está a eleição da análise da consciência e da linguagem, enquanto disciplina inaugural do pensamento, a partir da qual todos os conteúdos dignos de serem pensados deviam ser abordados, e a conseqüente eliminação de conceitos metafísicos tais como os de ser, substância, essência, etc., do discurso filosófico. Entretanto, com esse mesmo gesto também acreditou-se poder descartar os conceitos ontológicos de entidade, objeto, propriedade, relação, etc., enquanto relativos, por conseguinte, elimináveis. Todavia, a própria formulação da tese da relatividade ontológica supõe objetos e propriedades como relativos a algo e, nesse sentido, não pode ser usada para eliminar os conceitos ontológicos, sob pena de jogar este algo em relação a que tudo é relativo para o domínio do impensado e do não-relativo. Agora, se a noção de objeto ocupa nas filosofias metódicas pós-kantianas o lugar antes reservado à noção de ente (on, esse, seiende), uma teoria do objeto pode ser vista, então, como uma abertura ontológica. Abertura no sentido dos enxadristas, a saber, enquanto tomadas de decisões e ações iniciais.
Eu penso, a partir desse viés, que os textos aqui traduzidos, de Frege, Twardowski e Meinong, apresentam três aberturas de possíveis ontologias. E, assim como no Xadrez, embora uma abertura seja em larga medida decisiva para a partida, ela não
é suficiente para a finalização. Esses três exemplos de recomeços não-metafísicos em ontologia constituem ainda hoje desafios a serem realizados. Jogar em conformidade com suas decisões e regras, penso eu, ainda é interessante e frutífero. Russell, Whitehead, Wittgenstein, Carnap, Hartmann, Husserl,
Heidegger, Quine, entre outros, se apropriaram e usaram de modo particular essas aberturas, e ao menos três grandes movimentos filosóficos do século XX daí receberam influxos decisivos: a filosofia analítica da linguagem, a fenomenologia e
a escola polonesa.

This article deals with the definition of semantic notions. From the reconsideration of  Tarski’s and  Tugendhat’s thesis about semantic theory, it is claimed that the semantic and ontologic notions are complementary, on the basis that the definition of latter presupposes and complement the definition of former.  Entity and significance, although are distinct concepts taking different aspects of the experience, only as complementary aspects of a complex can be defined and thought in its fullness.

Adriano Naves de Brito, no livro Nomes próprios: semântica e ontologia, assume como tarefa investigar a questão de “como nomes próprios se vinculam a seus objetos para cumprirem a função de estar por eles nas sentenças” (p. 37). A partir dessa questão são esclarecidas interrelações fundamentais entre noções semânticas e ontológicas, refletindo nos conceitos de nome e de objeto.

The human situation in the world of machinic apparatuses and technological forms of relationship and livelihoods requires a revision of the humanist image. Modern technology provides a break with the ancient ways of life based on pre-scientific artefacts, but this does not imply a loss or destruction of the nature and human essence. Thus, human existence is not before poetic and
then by accident technique; and also not before needy and indeterminate and so technical, much less prior natural desire then technological error. The human brought up poetic and technologically and conform the world by the use of artifacts: his have world is always make up the world through fiction.

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the methodological assumptions of philosophical hermeneutics, based on the proposal of Paul Ricoeur to graft the hermeneutical problem in the phenomenological method, by considering the distinction between interpretation as suspicious and as recovery of meaning. My first objective is to propose that this distinction be thought as an opposition between two philosophical method which dispute about the meaning of human actions and expressions, a psycho-
genealogic, another phenomenological-hermeneutic; the second, to suggest that the phenomenological suspension is less fruitful than the genealogical suspicion for hermeneutics operation.

The aim is to present and discuss some proposed explanation of predicative structure by making explicit the structure of thematic roles and primitive semantic concepts. The suggestion will be to retake the theory of thematic roles to justify the predicative structure, and thus recover the notion of structured semantic content, basing it on the pragmatic level. This will require to refuse two general commonly accepted assumptions: that the  meaningfulness of linguistic expressions is based on prior conceptualization of the world, and that the only source of semantic content is perception. The alternative will be to design thematic roles as primitives discursive functions, in which is reflected not a early conceptualization of the world, but rather the structure of the situation of cooperative interaction of agents engaged in common activities.

The question investigated in this work is how to elucidate the semantic connection between the concepts of significance, truth and entity. The main objective is to explain and to fix the primary semantic notions, and its interconnections, involved in the description of the propositional semantic content. From the hypothesis of the complexity of the semantic nexus, it is showed the inadequacy  and the one-sidedness of three classics strategies of explanation of the semantic content, namely, referentialism, inferentialism and deflacionism. It is proposed, then, a theory based on the distinction of different semantics functions, defined from the combination of the referential and the inferential remissions which make the significance of the expressions. This theory of semantic description is, in turn, applied in the elucidation of the relations between semantic notion and ontologic notion. The proposal is that these notion are complementary, in the sense that they are definable only concomitantly.

A preeminência das interações linguísticas escritas na atual sociabilidade, sobretudo pelo uso de dispositivos digitais e aparatos de mensagens digitalizadas para comunicação interpessoal, realiza de forma explícita a separação entre fala e escrita, e entre voz e mensagem. Embora esse seja um fenômeno antigo, já evidente com o surgimento das primeiras inscrições, se tornou pervasivo no contexto cultural contemporâneo, à medida que as intermediações linguísticas são potencializadas pelos sistemas digitais e ambientes virtuais; o próprio espaço social urbano está conformado pela linguagem escrita e sistemas gráficos. Esse fenômeno está na base da situação crítica da literatura contemporânea cujo norte é a exploração da letra para além de sua função conversacional, comunicativa e narrativa. A dissociação entre fala e escrita sugere a desmontagem do modelo do abecedário como tão somente um dispositivo de reprodução dos sons vocais. Se a linguagem escrita é hoje o próprio cerne das novas tecnologias e máquinas inteligentes, na qual tudo se deixa transcrever, a literatura mesma se encaminha para sua resolução como códice maquínico. Todavia, a principal transformação está na alteração da função e do papel da linguagem quando esta deixa de ser a emissão de um eu, ou a intermediação entre dois sujeitos, de modo que agora convivemos com emissões e mensagens que não são falas de alguém, embora exijam respostas e direcionem nossos pensamentos e ações.

Analysis of the central theses of the theories that seek to provide an explanation of the significance and, above all, of the semantic content of sentential expressions, without resorting to referential nexuses, which, although not entirely eliminated, are then conceived as external to semantics or as secondary and derived from inferential relations. The starting point for these theories is the prioritization of the notion of sentential semantic content, either as that which is expressed by the utterance of a sentence, or as a link in a communicational-inferential chain. The hypothesis is that such an assertable content, isolatable as something determined and codified in a sentence, is left entirely to be specified from the premises or conditions of its assertion and from the consequences of its assertion. My purpose with this exposition is to make evident the partiality of the inferentialist proposal, in the sense that it is not able, on the one hand, to make explicit the entire semantic content of all meaningful expressions and, on the other, that it can not avoid the collapse of obvious semantic distinctions without resorting to referential nexus.

Esse texto trata dos problemas da interconexão entre a plataforma analítica usada na análise gramatical e a usada na análise ontológica enquanto instrumentos para elucidação de diferenças categoriais, tendo como orientação principal a suposição de que a dizibilidade, e a correspondente noção de sentido de uma frase, determina e delimita o horizonte dos conceitos ontológicos e o espaço lógico de atribuição de diferenças categoriais. Em geral, dessa suposição e do fato de que há múltiplas formas de significar e várias gramáticas, conclui-se pela relatividade ontológica e pela dissolução da noção mesma de categoria ontológica. Contra essa conclusão, argumenta-se aqui pela assimetria entre conceitos semântico-gramaticais e conceitos ontológicos, com o objetivo de expor a análise da linguagem e as noções gramaticais como vias inseguras para o estabelecimento de categorias ontológicas.
