We herein propose the transfer of Metaphareus punctatus Roewer, 1913, to the genus Eutimesius Roe... more We herein propose the transfer of Metaphareus punctatus Roewer, 1913, to the genus Eutimesius Roewer, 1913 (Heterostygninae) based on the genital morphology of the species and morphology of tarsi III and IV, resulting in the new combination Eutimesius punctatus (Roewer, 1913), comb. nov. New geographical records for E. albicinctus (Roewer, 1915) are offered, recording sympatry between the congeneric species E. albicinctus and E. punctatus and data on the reproductive behavior of E. punctatus are presented, suggesting the existence of parental care in this species.

The biogeographic implications of this record are commented on and some data on the phenology of the species are presented.

A comprehensive map of the South American species with a four-segmented female flagellum is presented, tables with characters of New World Hubbardiidae genera are provided. The relationships of the new genus within neotropical Hubbardiidae fauna is discussed.

We present a comprehensive revision of the pholcid spider collection of M.A. Gonzalez-Sponga, who... more We present a comprehensive revision of the pholcid spider collection of M.A. Gonzalez-Sponga, who between 1998 and 2011 described 22 new genera and 51 new species of Pholcidae from Venezuela. In addition, we treat the pholcid material collected during three expeditions to Venezuela conducted between 2002 and 2020. Of Gonzalez-Sponga’s pholcid taxa we recognize three genera and 24 species as valid. We describe 43 new species (all from males and females) in one new and 13 previously described genera; four genera are newly recorded for Venezuela. We describe the previously unknown females of 15 species, present new records for 46 previously described species, synonymize one genus and one species, and correct numerous minor errors in previous publications on Venezuelan pholcids. At the generic level, the Venezuelan pholcid fauna now appears fairly well known, but available data on distribution and endemism suggest that many species remain undiscovered and undescribed. Some taxonomic changes are made in Amazonian Stygnidae, based on reinterpretation of generic boun... more Some taxonomic changes are made in Amazonian Stygnidae, based on reinterpretation of generic boundaries: (1) the hitherto monotypic genus Jime Pinto-da-Rocha Tourinho, 2012 is newly recorded from Venezuela: Jime praecursor spec. nov. (Tobogán de la Selva, Amazonas state) is described and a new generic diagnosis is provided. The genital chaetotaxy is interpreted for the two known species of Jime, and (2) three species which have been originally described as Stygnoplus Simon, 1879 are herein newly transferred to Yapacana Pinto-da-Rocha, 1997 (hitherto monotypic): Y. ianomami (Pinto-da-Rocha Tourinho, 2012) comb. nov., Y. neblina (Pinto-da-Rocha Tourinho, 2012) comb. nov., and Y. tapirapeco (Pinto-da-Rocha Tourinho, 2012) comb. nov. Emended diagnoses are proposed for both genera, and two cave-dwelling new species of Protimesius are described and illustrated: P. lucifer sp. nov. (Pará state) and P. orcus sp. nov. (Ceará state). ABSTRACT The genus Neocynorta is here revisited, resulting in the increase of its diversity from ... more ABSTRACT The genus Neocynorta is here revisited, resulting in the increase of its diversity from three species to 13, maintaining only the type species N. virescens from its former conformation. Two subjective synonyms of Neocynorta are proposed: Forfexia and Szczurekia, transferring their members to Neocynorta (F. marmorata, S. frigida, S. petrae and S. virginis). Likewise, eight other species are here transferred from artificially diverse genera: Cynorta (C. lata, C. meridensis, C. sanarensis, C. tovarzeai and C. yaracuyana), Paecilaema (P. punctata, P. virens) and Cynortula (C. venezuelensis). Neocynorta venezuelensis comb. nov. and Neocynorta virens comb. nov. Specific synonymies are proposed as well: (1) Zaraxolia olivacea, currently considered a junior synonym of Neocynorta m-inscripta, is considered here a junior subjective synonym of Neocynorta virescens; (2) Cynorta levinseni and Cynorta cristafemoris are here considered junior subjective synonyms of Neocynorta venezuelensis comb. nov.; and (3) Szczurekia dianae is proposed as a junior subjective synonym of Neocynorta marmorata comb. nov. The genus Neocynorta is rediagnosed based on external and genital morphology, causing the transfer of two misplaced species from Neocynorta to Cynorta and to Flirtea: Cynorta m-inscripta comb. nov. and Flirtea varicellosa comb. nov. Maps of the known distribution of all species of Neocynorta in Venezuelan Andean montane forest are presented.

Contribution to the faunistic knowledge of Wei-Assipu tepui, Roraima, massif, with emphasis in an... more Contribution to the faunistic knowledge of Wei-Assipu tepui, Roraima, massif, with emphasis in anurans and opiliones. We present the preliminary faunistic results obtained as collateral activity to the speleological expedition to Wei-Assipu-tepui in the Roraima massif, conducted by members of the Italian and Venezuelan Speleological Societies in July of 2000. We are reporting the presence of new taxa with emphasis in the anurans and harvestmen. Organisms collected correspond to six species of anurans and four species of harvestmen. This collection include four new species of anurans, and at least two of harvestmen.

An identification key for the males of Phalangodus is provided. Four Colombian species are described as new: Phalangodus briareos sp. nov. from a cave in Zapatoca, Santander department, P. cottus sp. nov. from Villavicencio, Meta department, P. gyes sp. nov. from Ibagué, Tolima department and P. kuryi sp. nov. from Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Magdalena department. SEM images of the penis of Phalangodus, including the type species of the genus, P. anacosmetus Gervais, 1842, are provided for the first time. Sexual dimorphism and the morphology of stylar caps and ovipositor in Cranaidae are discussed. Additionally, we revised the geographical distribution of P. anacosmetus, including a map with the geographical records of the genus.

Photographs of Leptostygnus leptochirus Mello-Leitão, 1940 (type species of the genus) and L. marchantiarum (González-Sponga, 1987), a map with geographical distribution and a key to the species of the genus are given. The first SEM images of a penis of a Leiosteninae member are shown with comments about the genital morphology in the subfamily.
