Possui graduação em Comunicação Social Jornalismo pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1994), mestrado em Ciências da Comunicação pela Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (1999), doutorado em Ciências da Comunicação pela Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (2003), doutorado-sanduíche em Sémiotique – Centre d Étude de La Vie Politique Française (2002) e pós-doutorado na Universite de Paris III (Sorbonne-Nouvelle) (2005-6). Atualmente é professor do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação e Informação da Faculdade de Biblioteconomia e Comunicação da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Tem experiência na área de Comunicação, com ênfase em Semiótica, Teorias e Metodologias de Pesquisa em Comunicação e Processos Midiáticos, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: cinema, audiovisualidades, política e cultura.

Abstract: The paper investigates possibilities for studying sports TV broadcast within a theoretical framework coming from audiovisual theories, especially semiotics. Global strategies used by television to frame modern sport within its world are examined. The corpus includes eleven World Cup finals (1970-2010), which are analyzed synchronically and diachronically. As a result, it was possible (1) to systematize procedures that are repeated and form a code for broadcastings; (2) to limit the evolution of those codes; (3) to recognize the predominance of immersive, intervaled and fragmented narratives, and (4) to build a theoretical and methodological apparatus for further analysis.
O presente trabalho busca apresentar um percurso metodológico cal-cado no pensamento de Roland Barthes. A partir da ideia de " desmon-tagem e arranjo " dos objetos empíricos, o texto procura desnaturalizar a noção de obra fechada observável em certos estudos de comunicação.
This study aims to present a methodological approach sustained by the thought of Roland Barthes. From the idea of " dissection and the ar-ticulation " of empirical objects , the text seeks to deconstruct the notion of closed work, observable in certain communication studies.
