Brazil is considered one of the richest nations on the biodiversity of insects, but has a great inequality in the studies of zoology throughout their geographic regions due to unequal division of resources and skilled labor. The lack of major zoological collections in the Northeast, the difficulties in obtaining the resources needed to afford the high costs of maintaining these collections and the lack of disclosure of their databases are key points of the causes of this inequality. The objective of this work is to make list of species of the family Cerambycidae, including 12 holotypes, present in the entomological collection of Prof. Johann Becker Museum of Zoology, State University of Feira de Santana (MZFS) and make the first record of the species Chrysoprasis airi Napp & Martins to Brazil. We counted one thousand and sixty-four specimens of Cerambycidae distributed in one hundred and fifty-four species, one hundred and nine genera, forty-five tribes and three subfamilies, deposi...

Neodiogmites Carrera, 1949, a rare Neotropical genus of Asilidae, is revised and divided into three species groups: (1) the melanogaster group, including N. carrerai Artigas & Papavero, N. melanogaster (Wiedemann, 1821), N. tenebrosus Carrera and N. carolindae sp. nov.; (2) the alexanderi group, including N. atriapex (Carrera & Papavero), N. alexanderi (Carrera), N. mixtus (Carrera), N. modestus (Carrera) reval., N. niger (Carrera) and N. papaveroi sp. nov.; and (3) the lanei group including N. lanei (Carrera) and N. tauauna Artigas & Papavero. A key to the 12 species is included, species distributions are summarized, and two new species are described and illustrated.

Parapartamona zonata and P. brevipilosa endemic to the Ecuadorian an Colombian Andes, have been collected between 1500 and 2700 m. Their nests have been usually found in secondary forests, with architectures and nidification places similar in both species. The nests are always constructed inside a vegetal covering, formed especially of moss and fit in the "parcially exposed" type of nest. There is an air space between the external vegetal covering and the batumen, which is thick and formed by resin, mud, and feces. The ...

Two new species of Sycorax from the Atlantic Rain Forest of Espírito Santo, Sycorax canaanensis Santos, Bravo & Falqueto sp. nov. and Sycorax tuberculata Santos, Bravo & Falqueto sp. nov. are described and illustrated. Male speci-mens were collected with CDC light traps in the Biological Reserve of Augusto Ruschi, municipality of Santa Teresa, state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. This finding raises the number of described Western Hemisphere Sycorax species to 15.

We present a species list of Cerambycidae from the municipality of Morro do Chapéu, Bahia, Brazil, based on specimens collected by the Project Programa de Pesquisa em Biodiversidade do Semiárido (PPBio/Semiárido) and deposited at Coleção Entomológica do Museu de Zoologia da Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana (MZFS). Thirty-four specimens were collected in 29 species belonging to 16 tribes and two subfamilies. Eight species are new record to the state Bahia and three for the Caatinga biome. In the list is included informations about distribution and a photoof each species is provided.
