Este artículo analiza la emergencia de un modelo de activismo feminista en Marruecos que, tras el 20F - la versión marroquí de la Primavera Árabe – comienza a reactivarse y a hacerse más visible en las calles, durante las protestas. Se sitúa al margen del movimiento feminista histórico, por su carácter anti-neoliberal. Implicado en el movimiento 20F, proponemos analizarlo a la luz de los marcos desarrollados en América Latina, que lo nombran como feminismo popular. Se trata de un activismo protagonizado por mujeres marroquíes, básicamente rurales, que luchan por la defensa de lo común y por la reproducción de la vida.

El objetivo de este artículo es indagar en la persistencia de paradigmas hegemónicos como el orientalista, para analizar las derivas socio-políticas de la región árabo-islámica. La Revolución del 25 de enero de 2011 en Egipto sirve para reflexionar sobre este aspecto, tomando como eje para el análisis la llamada “cuestión de la mujer” y su utilización a la hora de mantener y alimentar una representación en la que el cambio hacia la democracia en esta zona del mundo aparece como imposible. Se presentan los antecedentes de este paradigma y su uso en el pasado por parte de las élites coloniales y nacionalistas en distintos momentos de la historia. El último objetivo es mostrar cómo los análisis sobre los procesos revolucionarios que comienzan en 2010 siguen, o bien obviando el papel del activismo femenino, o bien utilizándolo para alimentar explicaciones culturalistas y esencialistas sobre la realidad socio-política en esta zona del mundo.

Based on a selection of four recent publications, this article addresses the question of Islam and Muslims in Spanish society within the framework of the peripheral position of Spanish Orientalism. These publications discuss Islam in Spain from perspectives that differ in objectives and methodology. The first book, by anthropologist Josep Lluís Mateo Dieste deals with the image of “the Moorish” over the course of Spanish history. The second, written by sociologist Salvatore Madonia is representative of a new line of research specifically interested in young Muslims in Spanish societies. The third publication, by anthropologist Jordi Moreras focuses on “radicalisation” as a new trend to study Muslim populations. The last volume, coordinated by arabist Luz Gómez-García, includes a significant number of articles, which analyze the relationship between the legitimacy and authority of Islam from a transnational perspective.

In the current context of generalized Islamophobia and the proliferation of anti-discrimination organizations, this article aims to analyze the willingness of Muslims to participate in some kind of common initiative, focused or not on the fight against discrimination. The objective is to find out if among Muslims in Madrid a common awareness of subalternity exists, based on their Muslimness, which structures any expression of claims-making, whether collectively organized or not. We investigate the nature of such claims by applying Fraser’s status model (2000) to the materials obtained from six discussion groups held in October 2016.

Para ello se centra en dos procesos: el orden sociolingüístico de la escuela y el papel que ocupan las lenguas inmigrantes en la práctica educativa. Se analiza si la pluralidad lingüística es entendida como un obstáculo, o si, por el contrario, es aprovechada para el aprendizaje. Finalmente el principal interrogante que se plantea es saber si los conocimientos lingüísticos previos de los estudiantes son valorados o ignorados en las aulas, es decir si se están o no fomentando procesos de descapitalización cultural, p. 111-112

Abstract The purpose of this special issue is to go beyond the terminological debate on Islamophobia and to focus on the practices, which are involved in, and cause, the construction of subaltern Muslim subjects within the Spanish state. The six articles of this monograph attempt to shed some light on the dynamics and extent of the processes of exclusion through which persons and groups (self-)identified as Muslim are being stigmatized and discriminated against in a structural manner, as a result of different kinds of institutionalized Islamophobia. Resumen El objetivo de este monográfico es ir más allá de los debates terminológicos sobre islamofobia, para centrar nuestra atención en las prácticas que causan y están implicadas en la construcción de sujetos subalternos musulmanes en el seno del Estado español.
