This article analyzes the digital transnational activism of the Chinese diaspora that aimed to co... more This article analyzes the digital transnational activism of the Chinese diaspora that aimed to confront racist and xenophobic narratives on the expression «Chinese virus» during Covid-19. We focus on the process of creation and production of two campaigns in Brazil and in Spain, #EuNãoSou-UmVirus and #YoNoSoUnVirus, respectively, shared on YouTube and X (former Twitter). Based on a qualitative approach, we combine ethnographic observations and in-depth interviews with three activists. The analysis is developed around two dimensions that marked the campaign in the two countries: (1) the emergence of racist and xenophobic narratives around the «Chinese virus» as an impulse towards transnational digital activism and (2) the activism of the #EuNãoSouUmVirus/#YoNoSoyUnVirus campaign as an opportunity for political engagement in the context of Chinese culture. While social media campaigns often align with short-term loyalties in consumption, results indicate that it can also be an opportunity for participants to reflect on their diaspora process and fight for political recognition at a local and transnational level.

Ahondamos en la comunicación populista a partir del análisis del uso de la prensa que hace Vox —p... more Ahondamos en la comunicación populista a partir del análisis del uso de la prensa que hace Vox —partido ubicado en la derecha radical— en su cuenta oficial de X (Twitter). Se trata de un trabajo exploratorio sobre cómo el partido emplea la prensa para elaborar sus postulados, basado en un análisis de contenido cuantitativo. Analizamos mensajes que incluyen material identificado como procedente de medios periodísticos y que no se refieren exclusivamente a las actuaciones o miembros del propio partido. El corpus reúne todas las entradas publicadas entre el 11 de junio y el 22 de julio de 2022 con esas características (n: 100). A partir de Patrick Charaudeau (2021), estudiamos los marcos interpretativos y la intertextualidad. Resultados: (a) elevada presencia de una prensa identificada con una ideología próxima; (b) dominio de marcos interpretativos que apuntan al conflicto; y (c) tendencia a otorgar a la prensa la función de reforzar la interpretación deseada.

RESUMEN El concepto Sur global, en los últimos años, se hizo visible en publicaciones académicas ... more RESUMEN El concepto Sur global, en los últimos años, se hizo visible en publicaciones académicas de comunicación, en especial, en el contexto del norte global. A partir de esta premisa, este artículo propone, por un lado, presentar las principales líneas empleadas bajo el concepto global south y, por otro, discutir su apropiación en el campo de la comunicación, poniendo en perspectiva dicho empleo a la luz de las corrientes y tradiciones de la comunicología iberoamericana. Se discute en qué medida global south representa una agenda política capaz de articular un diálogo entre la producción comunicacional iberoamericana ante las agendas-epistémicas y metodológicas-del norte global, sus limitaciones y potencialidades desde la experiencia de un investigador sometido a ambas lógicas.

Especificamente, analisa-se o movimento Slow Food como parte de um fenomeno pos-moderno de resistencia a sociedade de consumo tradicional, que busca pelo consumo alimentar a ressignificacao do sujeito por meio das suas acoes cotidianas. A partir de uma aproximacao multimetodologica - que inclui observacoes nao participantes e 6 entrevistas em profundidade realizadas com lideres de "convivios" (espacos nucleadores/ de socibilidade) do Slow Food - problematiza-se como este movimento busca a construcao de novos imaginarios sociais sobre o ideal de vida boa, edificado a partir da articulacao das praticas alimentares. This study seeks to decipher the modus operandi of Shanghai’s image portrayal to the audience thr... more This study seeks to decipher the modus operandi of Shanghai’s image portrayal to the audience through social media platforms, particularly Twitter. Leveraging the potency of big data analysis, the study scrutinizes the applicability of the two-step flow communication model in the communication of Shanghai’s image. The findings highlight the cardinal role of opinion leaders in the image communication process, overshadowing the impact of mass media. The age-old phenomenon of two-step flow, wherein information trickles down from mass media to opinion leaders, appears to be fading away. Although mass media’s tweets can potentially reach a broad audience, they do not necessarily captivate the attention of opinion leaders. Thus, the study underscores the importance of both mass media and opinion leaders in shaping Shanghai’s image.

This paper analyzes whether this digital feminist movement enacted an interreligious dialogue (IRD). Based on content analysis and topic modeling of the publications retrieved from three major platforms, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, the results indicate that this was mainly a Western movement focused on women’s bodies as a political symbol in authoritarian Islamic regimes and has not achieved an IRD since most social media posts reproduced the hashtag #HairForFredom without opening a religious discussion. En efecto, observamos en el Estado espanol una notable lucha para dotar este campo de una mayor autonomia dentro del campo de las ciencias sociales. No obstante, en el seno del campo de la comunicacion, una de las discusiones clasicas ha sido la constante disputa por la definicion del contenido y del continente de las llamadas �teorias de la comunicacion�. A partir de la teoria de los campos del sociologo Pierre Bourdieu y del analisis bibliometrico de la produccion espanola en torno a las �teorias de la comunicacion�, el presente trabajo pretende enmarcar algunas lineas o tendencias de debate latentes en dicha area dentro del campo de la comunicacion espanol.

uma mutação nas fronteiras entre aquilo que separa o público do privado a partir dos usos e consumos das tecnologias da comunicação e da informação? Quais os benefícios e os riscos que os novos desenhos das políticas de privacidade trazem para a ética pública? Temos nas Tecnologias da Informação e da Comunicação (TICs) um instrumento que auxilia no controle dos poderes públicos e no combate à corrupção? Estas são, em síntese, algumas das questões que norteiam esta obra. A partir da análise de temas atuais e variados, respaldados por uma ampla pesquisa, os 12 autores que contribuem para este livro discutem estas e outras questões que giram em torno a implicações, problemas, conflitose consequências éticas das políticas de privacidade em rede. Trata-se de uma obra construída à luz das interfaces entre comunicação e consumo, o que lhe confere um cariz interdisciplinar e um enfoque marcadamente sociocultural.
