This can be seen on account of various cultures, physically evident or not, which paved the way to cultural reconstructions, suggesting ancestral rituals and festivities. This paper aims to describe how the Formosan speaking communities see the concept of marriage and matrimony through the use of lexical terms found in the dictionaries of six languages, Favorlang, Amis, Atayal, Paiwan, Kavalan and Pazeh, although other Formosan languages (e.g. Bunun, Puyuma, Saisiyat, Rukai, Tsou) will also be looked into through other sources like news articles. All of these languages practice the notion of marriage through different customs and rituals which is seen through the vocabularies they use. Metaphors, taboos, and other concepts were also discussed.
