What is TNW Conference?

TNW Conference is a 2-day technology event that brings together international tech executives, top-tier investors, scale-ups and start-ups for business and knowledge sharing – in a festival setting and surrounded by some of the highest production values of any tech event on the planet. This year will be the 15th edition of TNW Conference, and will be the first hybrid edition, meaning it will take place in-person in Amsterdam, as well as digitally online.

What can I expect from the online experience?

We pride ourselves on our vast experience in organizing events, both in-person and online-only. By combining the two, we have created a truly hybrid event that will provide the best experience, regardless whether you are joining us in Amsterdam or online. What you can expect from the online event is the same as you can expect from the in-person format: valuable keynote content, interactive sessions with audience engagement, and plenty of opportunities to connect and do business with people attending in-person and online.

What can I expect from the in-person experience?

TNW Conference is known for its pioneering spirit. We’re blazing forward - with the highest health and safety measures in place - by returning to meeting in-person. It’s the same level of content and networking that you’ve come to expect from the TNW conference, in a scaled-down event, exclusively for 4500 attendees.

How will I network with the hybrid event attendees?

Accepted Answer

We'll provide any attendee with a suite of tools that will allow you to connect with relevant attendees, in-person and online from all over the world. We'll use a combination of shared interest, as well as AI-powered matchmaking, in order for you to find the most relevant people and conduct meetings with them.

What is the difference between a Business Pass and a Digital Only Business Pass?

A Business Pass gives you access to both the in-person and the online event. A Digital-Only ticket gives access to just the digital event (this includes all networking tools).

Question 9

I've registered tickets to TNW Conference 2020 (in-person), is this ticket valid for the 2021 edition?

Accepted Answer

If you have purchased tickets to TNW Conference 2020, and you haven't requested a refund last year, you will receive a new ticket to TNW Conference 2021 (both the in-person and the online version). Before May 10th, you will receive an email to re-register for this hybrid edition (search for 'Action required: Your ticket to TNW Conference 2021' in your mailbox). In order to access the event, you’ll be asked to go through onboarding again. Please check your inbox to re-register, or contact us at conference@thenextweb.com if you need assistance. Note: complementary pass holders (friends, family, speakers) will get access to the Digital event only.

Question 10

Is there a refund policy?

There is a 14-day 'change of mind' policy that allows you to request a refund without having to pay any processing fees. If you are looking to cancel your order, please fill out this form within 14 days of purchase.  After these 14 days, your tickets have become non-refundable. However, you are allowed to change the name on the ticket and you can therefore give your ticket to a colleague, client, or friend. Please make sure to read our terms of service beforehand.

Can I transfer my ticket to another person?

Yes, you are allowed to pass your ticket on to someone else. Tickets are transferable to another person for up to 24 hours before the event starts. If you are looking to give your ticket to someone else, please click on the order management link in the email containing your registration confirmation. Locate ‘your ticket to TNW Conference - registration completed' to change the name on the ticket.

Can I buy a ticket now and choose the name of the person later?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can order a ticket now and re-assign it to the person attending at a later date. If you have purchased multiple tickets, you can assign them at any time through your ticket dashboard. You can access your dashboard by clicking on the order management link in the email containing your registration confirmation. Locate 'Your ticket to TNW Conference - registration completed' to change the name on the ticket.

Can I order my ticket now and pay for it later?

Accepted Answer

Depending on the type of ticket, this is indeed an option. When prompted for payment, simply opt to 'pay later' (if available). You will be able to insert your billing details and create an invoice. After that, you'll have 14 days to transfer the funds via a bank transfer, or online using a credit/debit card, PayPal, or iDeal.

What happens to my Business pass if the in-person event cannot take place after all?

In the unfortunate event that we're not allowed to get together in-person, we will cancel the in-person component of the conference. If this happens, TNW will automatically provide you a refund for the in-person part of the event. The ticket to the digital event will still be valid. Your Business Pass (or other pass that gives access to the in-person part of the event) contains access to in-person + the digital event. The value for the digital part of the Business Pass is fixed at €250. Your refund will be the difference between the price paid and €250. Please make sure to read our terms of service beforehand.

Question 15

Can you deduct the VAT since you are selling within the EU?

Article 53 & 54 of the VAT Directive include a specific guideline for (international) events, stating VAT must be charged in the country where the actual event takes place. Business to customers (B2C) services relating to cultural, artistic, sporting, scientific, educational, entertainment and similar activities will be taxed at the place where those activities actually take place [Article 54 of the VAT Directive]. Business to business (B2B) services in respect of admission to cultural, artistic, sporting, scientific, educational, entertainment and similar events will be taxed at the place where those events actually take place [Article 53 of the VATDirective]. Please refer to your tax advisors to check if/how this tax can be (partially) reclaimed.

When is the latest I can purchase tickets online?

Ticket prices increase periodically, but will remain available until the start of the event.

Question 17

Which health measures will be in place during the in-person event?

Accepted Answer

TNW Conference 2021 will take place in September and October this year. The health and safety rules that will apply at that time are yet unknown. However, we're consulting local and national government to ensure that the in-person conference will have the highest health and safety measures in place. Be prepared to either be vaccinated or have proof of a negative Covid test, in order to join the event in-person. We'll inspect all documentation (including ID) at check-in. Depending on governmental guidelines and best practices, other measurements to ensure a safe environment might be taken, including and are not limited to: temperature sensors at the gate, face masks and general hygiene measures.
