- Tunnel Rat is a human from the G.I. Joe portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Tunnel Rat is a member of G.I. Joe. He prefers to deal with the enemy head-on, as he believes he is tougher than anything that can be thrown at him.

Marvel Generation 2 comic
Tunnel Rat, Roadblock, Rock 'n Roll and Airtight infiltrated the Cobra-controlled city of Milleville to find out what Cobra was up to and to confirm the suspicion of Decepticon involvement. They spotted Megatron in Milleville and radioed Hawk their findings, Goin' South War Without End! but were attacked by Cobra Eels immediately after. The team took out the Eels and contacted Hawk to request backup. Tunnel Rat sort of took over from Roadblock as mission leader, guiding the others through the sewers to get out of Milleville. They were attacked again, first by more Eels and then by B.A.T.S.. Fortunately, the Ninja Force showed up and helped them reach safety. Sucker Punch

Tunnel Rat was among a group of Joes who went to a carnival. They tried their luck unsuccessfully at a "ring the bell" strongman contest, only to watch open-mouthed as the Terrorcons combined into Abominus and smashed it so hard it broke. Carnival Face Off
Transformers vs. G.I. Joe
G.I. Joe, and the Earth at large, found themselves caught up in a war against the planet Cybertron. Tunnel Rat was among the many operatives sent to the metallic planet to take the offensive against their opponents. After an attack against the Decepticon city of Trypticon ended with the Joes on the run, they regrouped at Green Zone 0-8-6, their temporary camp behind enemy lines. There, Tunnel Rat patrolled the base's perimeter into the dark of night. When Wheeljack was ensnared after breaching the camp, Tunnel Rat helped secure the Joes' first P.O.W. in the inter-planetary war. Targetmasters The Joes came to find that the Autobots were a sympathetic lot, and that they shared a common enemy: the Decepticons. The Joes lodged themselves within the Autobots' mobile city, Metroplex. It soon came under attack from both Trypticon and the rogue Autobot, Fortress Maximus. Tunnel Rat and a number of other Joes set out to infiltrate Maximus with several Autobots backing them up. Tunnel Rat entered Maximus through one of his nostrils, and encountered Dragun as he made his way through the titan. Inside Maximus's brain, he and Arcee discovered that Blackarachnia was mind-controlling the enormous Autobot. They defeated the spider, allowing Maximus to return to his senses. As Fortress Maximus began to tangle with Trypticon, his head detached itself, transformed into the smaller robot Cerebros, and allowed the troops within it to storm Megatron's throne room. The leader of the Decepticons was ready for them though, and Tunnel Rat was captured and put into a holding cell. Everybody Hates Metroplex
When the guards weren't looking, Tunnel Rat managed to escape. As he snuck around, he stumbled about many of the horrors taking place within Trypticon, though the one that gave him pause was the revelation that the Autobot scientist Perceptor was really a Decepticon double-agent! - Tunnel Rat's toy noggin was sculpted in the likeness of longtime G.I. Joe writer (and by consequence, brief writer of Transformers fiction) Larry Hama.
