Oval
From Transformers Wiki
- Oval is a Mini-Con from the Armada portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
Oval is the Street Speed Mini-Con Team's self-appointed comedian. Luckily, he's actually a moderately witty, funny individual... but he never ever shuts up. His unrelenting banter can grate even when he's on a roll, and if his jokes are misfiring, or if he's telling them at a way-inappropriate time (like if he's on a mission requiring any degree of stealth), even his allies may start considering doing terrible things to him.
His behavior is fueled by a very good intention; the war has broken many a spirit, and Oval just wants to keep his friends and teammates' moods up. And while most know this and appreciate the sentiment, they do wish he'd at least notch down the volume a bit.[1]

The Street Speed Team were sent to Velocitron as advance scouts for the Autobots. The planet's mass of winding high-speed tracks really appealed to them, to the point where they started having a hard time tearing themselves from the road to get their missions underway.

- Street Speed Mini-Con Team (Mini-Con 3-pack, 2002 / 2003)
- Takara ID number: MM-06
- Takara release date: December 27, 2002
- Known designers: Joe Kyde (deco artist)
- Armada Oval transforms into a Saleen S7 luxury car. Like his fellow Street Speed Mini-Con Team members, his car mode wheels are designed to allow for much faster rolling on smooth surfaces. Unlike his pack-mates, Oval is much more prone to coming apart when attempting to transform him from car to robot mode.
- He was only available in a Basic three-pack with Backtrack and Spiral. In the Hasbro line, the Street Speed team were released in the third assortment of Mini-Con teams. In Japan, it was part of the massive first wave of Legend of the Microns product, released in December 2002. Aside from packaging, there are no noteworthy differences between the two releases. The Armada release was also made available in a clamshelled two-pack at various retail outlets. So far, all samples of packs with the Street Speed Team known have come with the Adventure Mini-Con Team as their pack-in partners.
- This mold was also used to make Flat-Out, and Armada Nightscream. It was planned to be used for Energon Brakedown and packed with Ultra Magnus, but that release was changed late in the production run and given a different Mini-Con Team. A later retooling of the mold was used to make Plug.

- Silverbolt & Street Speed Micron (Multi-pack, 2003)
- In Japan, the Street Speed Team was available both on an individual card and in a multi-pack with "Silverbolt" (the Japanese version of Super-Con Blurr) and his partner "Turbo" (aka Incinerator), released concurrently with the individually-boxed Silverbolt as part of the third wave of Legend of the Microns product. All the toys in the set are identical to their individual releases.
- Nitro Overdrive Edition (Promotional Micron, 2003)
- Takara release date: January 19 2003
- The "Overdrive Edition" redeco of the Team were given away as individual pieces (not as a complete Team!) to people who voted in the "Legends of the Microns Character Popularity Contest" at Takara's booth at the 17th Japanese "World Hobby Fair": the event was held in Osaka on January 19th, in Tokyo on January 25th and 26th, in Nagoya on February 2nd, and in Fukuoka on February 9th. Each Micron came in an opaque black baggie.
- On April 1st that year, they were also available as random (individual) giveaways at Ito Yokaido stores with the purchase of any Legend of the Microns product, this time in clear bags.

- Street Speed Mini-Con Team (Mini-Con 3-pack,
2003)
- A black-and-tan redeco of Oval was planned to be released as part of a "refresh" version of the Street Speed Team for the "The Unicron Battles" subline imprint of Armada. The coloration of the Team was a "one-off" of the Takara Overdrive Edition version, with each toy’s main color shifted over to another one. Though the full Team was displayed in Hasbro's OTFCC 2003 "upcoming products" case, and some carded samples surfaced through unofficial channels, the set was ultimately canceled for unknown reasons.

- Street Speed Mini-Con Team (Scout Class, 2004 / 2005)
- Takara name: Auto Microns
- Takara ID number: GC-08
- Takara release date: December 28, 2004
- A retooling of the first Oval mold, this version transforms into a modified bright blue Saleen S7 supercar. Once again, he was only available in a complete three-pack with his also-retooled teammates Backtrack and Spiral.
- There are no apparent differences between the initial Takara Galaxy Force "Auto Micron" release of "Cyaana" and the later Hasbro Cybertron "Street Speed Mini-Con Team" release of "Oval". The Cybertron Street Speed Team card back and instructions mistakenly have Backtrack and Oval's names swapped around from their Armada bodies.
- This version of the mold was used to make the Micron Booster Plug.
