Hun-Gurrr (G1)
From Transformers Wiki
The name or term "Hun-Gurrr" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Hun-Gurrr (disambiguation). |
- Hun-Gurrr is a Decepticon Terrorcon from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Hun-Gurrr (aka Hun-Grr, Hun-Garr, Hun-Grrr, and Hun-Gar) is the leader of the Terrorcons and would be quite the model Decepticon and military strategist if he could just stop stuffing his two mouths. Hun-Gurrr is a terrible glutton, constantly filling his stomach with as much energy and materials as he can find. He only ever stops his insatiable feeding frenzies to fulfill his other desire: wanton destruction. In this capacity he is quite adept as a military leader, although his underlings are sometimes unable to understand his commands when Hun-Gurrr has stuffed his face(s) full of fallen Autobots. Though nominally a Decepticon, Hun-Gurrr and his team sometimes ally with the Quintessons.
Hun-Gurrr can combine with the other Terrorcons to form Abominus and sometimes he combines with other Decepticons to form Abomenaticus or Decepticon Super Scramble.

—Hun-Gurrr, "Money Is Everything" |
Hun-Gurrr and the rest of the Terrorcons accompanied Galvatron when he went to Unicron's head to acquire anti-electrons. During a fight with the Autobots, the Terrorcons did a decent job of fighting them, with Hun-Gurrr grabbing Rodimus Prime with his mouths. However, Grimlock created the Technobots, and Hun-Gurrr ordered the Terrorcons to merge into Abominus. The Technobots merged into Computron, but Abominus grabbed Computron. The Autobot combiner defeated Abominus by vibrating, forcing Abominus to separate back into his component Terrorcons. Grimlock's New Brain
Hun-Gurrr and the Terrorcons were next seen in the employ of the Quintessons. At some point, the Quintessons installed an automatic timer on one or all of the Terrorcons, limiting the time they could spend combined as Abominus. A ravenous Hun-Gurrr was sent to attack rogue trader Dirk Manus, finding time to devour a satellite along the way (and spit it back out as a pair of missiles). Crashing headlong into two Technobots and then the planet's surface, Hun-Gurrr was finally driven off by the Technobots' combined firepower. Later, after Abominus shot down the Technobots over Saturn and chased Manus's ship to Titan's surface, he expressed frustration at being forced to separate from the others before their hunt was done. He was soon hungry again, and didn't take kindly to Sinnertwin's suggestion that he eat something. The Terrorcons in their combined form were defeated a second time by Computron shortly thereafter, and fled from Titan. Money Is Everything
Hun-Gurrr was one of the Primitives summoned to fight Tornedron. During the interaction with the Primitives, Hun-Gurrr picked fights with everyone for any possible reason. While stuck on the world of Primacron's assistant, Hun-Gurrr attempted to fight Tornedron by spitting chewed-up rocks at the energy being. This was actually not an entirely unreasonable tactic, given that Tornedron was plainly feeding off the energy weapons all of the other Primitives were using against him. It didn't work, though. Call of the Primitives
Hun-Gurrr led the Terrorcons' attack on Jessica Morgan's father's laboratory, intending to steal a new super-alloy for Galvatron. They were delayed for a moment by the Technobots, but a quick merge into Abominus blasted Computron out of the battle long enough for the Terrorcons to grab the alloy. As the Technobots attacked again, Hun-Gurrr said "Got what we came for! We go, fight another day!" and they took off. The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 1
In 2007, Hun-Gurrr and the Terrorcons participated in an attack on Autobot City in order to draw the Autobots' attention while Wingspan and Pounce stole the Key to the Plasma Energy Chamber. The Rebirth, Part 1 They were later seen wearing down the Autobot defenses on Cybertron. The Rebirth, Part 3

In 2011, Hun-Gurrr and the Terrorcons journeyed to Cybertron over the long-abandoned Decepticon Space Bridge. They were part of the first wave of Galvatron's siege, hoping to gain control of Vector Sigma. Hun-Gurrr's team combined into Abominus to battle Superion. Four Warriors Come out of the Sky Later on, Abominus teamed up with his fellow combiners to wage war on their Autobot counterparts. Their victory seemed assured until the Battleship Maximus swooped in and scattered the Decepticon combiners. They barely survived the encounter. The Mystery of Planet Master On Earth, Hun-Gurrr and the Terrorcons intervened on Hot Rod's search for the Matrix of Leadership. Chromedome and the Autobot Headmasters kept the Terrorcons busy so that Hot Rod could complete his mission. Even after the Terrorcons formed Abominus, the Headmasters stood against them, and the arrival of Computron swung the odds firmly on the Autobots' side. Abominus was last seen with his head buried in the sand, being kicked in the side by Computron. Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime
When Galvatron launched a metal-warping meteorite at the Autobots on Athenia, he brought along Hun-Gurrr and the Terrorcons to occupy the Autobot forces. Linking up as Abominus, they once again battled Computron and the Headmasters. Approach of the Demon Meteorite
Scorponok devised a scheme to harvest plasma energy from the planet Mars by setting off a series of explosives that would utterly destroy the planet, releasing its stored energies. Hun-Gurrr and the Terrorcons were responsible for planting the bombs. Hun-Gurrr was spotted by Daniel Witwicky, Wheelie and Shouki of the Trainbots, but the other Terrorcons managed to take them hostage. Hun-Gurrr left Rippersnapper and Sinnertwin in charge of the hostages, while he took the other Terrorcons to finish planting the charges. Explosion on Mars!! Maximus Is in Danger They managed to get two of the three sites set before being set upon by Raiden and the Headmasters. By forming Abominus, Hun-Grrr's team held their own until Scorponok arrived with his mighty Transtector, MegaZarak. The giant scorpion occupied the Autobots long enough for the Terrorcons to finish their work, and Mars was consumed by the resultant atomic inferno. Explosion on Mars!! MegaZarak Appears
Soon after, Hun-Gurrr and the Terrorcons joined Sixshot the returning Galvatron on an energy raid. They sought to prevent the Autobots from re-energizing the distant world of Sandra, and steal the energy for themselves. Hun-Gurrr's team formed Abominus for yet another in a series of battles against Computron. SOS from Planet Sandra When Galvatron left for deep space to plunder new sources of energy, Hun-Gurrr and the Terrorcons went with him. He and Sinnertwin were seen gathering energon on the planet Paradise, and the Terrorcons later formed Abominus to battle the Monsterbots. Head Formation of Friendship
Hun-Gurrr returned with Galvatron and the other Decepticons, setting up shop on Earth under Sixshot's command. He joined an enormous offensive against the Autobots' facility in Miami, drawing out the troops from Autobot City so that Sixshot could kill Ultra Magnus. Body-slamming Computron as Abominus was just icing on the cake. Ultra Magnus Dies!! The warfare on Earth continued, as Hun-Gurrr and the Terrorcons assembled as Abominus in part of a five-fold simultaneous strike on Autobot interests engineered by Sixshot. The Emperor of Destruction Vanishes on an Iceberg As Scorponok assumed control of the Decepticons again, Hun-Gurrr was seen at a rally being held in his honor on Chaar. Hun-Gurrr and the Terrorcons later joined a Decepticon strike on the Kamchatka Peninsula, seeking to gain control of the Pacific Ring of Fire. I Risk My Life for Earth
As Scorponok abandoned Earth in favor of conquering Master, Hun-Gurrr was one of his many troops seen attacking the planet's fortifications. Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 2) As part of Abominus, Hun-Gurrr participated in the final battle with the Autobots at the North Pole. He escaped into space with the rest of Scorponok's Decepticons. The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 2)

Generations Selects Special Comic
Hun-Gurrr and his underlings were sent by the Quintessons (who joined forces with the humans) to assault the Selectors, Autobots, and Decepticons. Volcanicus comic 2 Hun-Gurrr expressed a desire to eat Volcanicus and bit off several pieces of his chest armor. Hun-Gurrr then proceeded to swallow both a Smashdown and a Soundbarrier alive! The savage Terrorcon leader then used Angolmois Energy to convert his ingested victims into a Slitherfang, which he spat out at Optimus Prime. Hun-Gurrr arrogantly claimed to his foes that the Terrorcons had the ability to control Unicron's power. Hun-Gurrr then converted into his base form, allowing Sinnertwin to feed the Selectors' and Transformers' sparks into the Hellspark within his body.
For the latter half of the battle, Hun-Gurrr lounged around in his base form while giving orders to his Terrorcons, not caring that he betrayed his former commander Megatron. As the other Terrorcons panicked when Megatron absorbed their Angolmois Energy, Hun-Gurrr sent a transmission to the Quintessons requesting to combine into Abominus. After the Quintessons deployed his Terrorbreaster shield, Hun-Gurrr briefly assumed a flying mode before combining with his minions. Megatron evolved into his Megatron Omega form—achieved from his stockpiled Angolmois Energy—and attacked Abominus, but the hulking combiner grabbed Megatron and seemingly shot him dead through the chest. Abominus comic 1 However, Megatron Omega ultimately survived Abominus's assault. Abominus comic 2
Hun-Gurrr was present as part of Abominus during his brutal rampage in Neo Scramble City. When Abominus hijacked Bruticus and Menasor's limbs to become Abomenaticus, Hun-Gurrr and Cutthroat were the two Terrorcons that carried over to Abomenaticus's configuration. Abomenaticus later reverted to Abominus to confront Megatron Omega, but Megatron's superior attack blew off Hun-Gurrr's Terrorbreaster chestplate, causing the Terrorcons' Hellspark to lose all its stockpiled sparks. Following Abominus's temporary alliance with Volcanicus, Abominus comic 2 the Terrorcons separated and arrived on the Blue Planet with the Abomenaticus components. An uncharacteristically friendly Hun-Gurrr greeted Grimlock, who informed him of the stash of Angolmois Energy stored within Neo Primus's core. Finale Prelude
Hun-Gurrr later assisted Volcanicus's assault on Primacron, eating up the Dinobot combiner's Magma Blade and infusing it with the Angolmois that he ate from Neo Primus to create the "Angolmois Blade". The Terrorcon leader spat the new weapon towards Volcanicus, allowing him to strike Neo Primus hard enough to cause it to revert to its planet state. As Hun-Gurrr returned to the planet's surface to celebrate with Turtler, he was shot down by Red Megatron and Black Megatron. Finale
The Great Transformer War
Hun-Gurrr and the Terrorcons were defeated in battle as Abominus by Computron. They switched tactics and split into their individual modes to spray Computron with "Cohesive Control Liquid", forcing him onto the Decepticon side. The Technobots were eventually freed when Spike Witwicky blasted them with a counter-spray. The now clear-minded Computron then proceeded to crush the individual Terrorcons. The Great Transformer War #2

Hun-Grr and the Terrorcons served Scorponok on Cybertron, and journeyed to Nebulos under his command to conquer the populace and destroy their old foes, Fortress Maximus and his crew. The Terrorcons made a rather poor showing of themselves upon their first mission, however. As they trampled through the city of Splendora, they were met and driven off by Computron and a pair of Headmasters, despite being backed up by the Horrorcons. Love and Steel! While battling the Autobots at the Nursery, Hun-Grr showed that even he wouldn't eat some food when he caught Crosshairs's rocket-propelled grenades in his twin heads and then immediately spat them back out at his opponent. Despite the Decepticons' opponents having recently been upgraded into Targetmasters, Hun-Grr and the others held their own until the Autobots came to realize the battle was bringing too great destruction to the agricultural facility. They fled from the Decepticons to bring an end to the carnage. Brothers in Armor!!
The Decepticons eventually left Nebulos for Earth, and entered into talks with Ratbat's crew who were already stationed there. The talks didn't go too well. Looking out the window of their starship, Hun-Grr and Triggerhappy saw the Predacons attacking Scorponok and his entourage. They rallied their fellow Decepticons and led them out into a Decepticon Civil War against Ratbat's troops. Cold War!

By 2008, Hun-Grr was repaired and serving under Shockwave's command on Cybertron when ol' one-eye was assassinated by the minions of Unicron, leaving Scourge and Cyclonus to lead the Decepticons into an ill-advised conflict with the Autobots. It was Hun-Grr who pointed out to Soundwave when Cyclonus and Scourge fled the field of battle, and together they then sounded the retreat for all the Decepticons. The Legacy of Unicron! Later that year, Soundwave learned that most of the Autobots were allegedly off-world, and planned to attack the Autobot-controlled territories in their enemies' absence. Hun-Grr was seen among Soundwave's top generals and sub-commanders rocketing into battle. The information proved false however, and the Decepticons were caught in a Quintesson ambush. They were forced to call upon the Autobots for help to prevent Cybertron's forceful colonization by the aliens. Space Pirates!
In 2009, Hun-Grr and the Terrorcons carried out Soundwave's important plan to ransack Earth and leech energy out of the planet itself. Hun-Grr showed more competence than the other Terrorcons, forcing them to stop attacking human settlements for fun when they should be working. Amusingly, he also reacted quickly after overhearing humans wondering where the Autobots were, and announced to the fleshlings that the Autobots had been their advance guard, softening up the population for the kill. Heh. Decepticon humor.
After the Autobots destroyed their energy leech machine, Soundwave and the Terrorcons followed them back to Autobot City and found an open trans-time dimensional portal back to 1989. Hun-Grr insisted they follow the Autobots back into the past and seek revenge, and Soundwave agreed in order to maintain a good relationship with his men. Once there, however, they learned of the all-encompassing timestorm, and its threat to the entire timestream. Realizing the threat was too large to handle themselves, Soundwave and Hun-Grr had the Terrorcons quietly extract themselves from the battle with Galvatron and his allies, and transported back to 2009. Hun-Grrr had a mother named Ma-Grrr. He and the Terrorcons were eventually repaired and brought back on-line as part of Bludgeon's forces. Hun-Grrr also had himself reconstructed into a new, THREE-headed dragon mode, maximizing his chances for gluttony. He was pleased to now have three heads in robot mode as well as beast mode, and his enhanced power made the Abominus combination even more fearsome.
As Bludgeon's forces prepared for war with Megatron, Hun-Grrr worked out of the armory, keeping the planetary defense cannons in proper order. He was in such a good mood, he even offered some of his Energon chips to Bludgeon and the Seacons as they approached. Hun-Grrr's good mood quickly soured when his leader not only accused him of betraying their cause, he actually... refused... FOOD! The furious Terrorcon leader attempted to shoot Bludgeon, only for his sonic stun-gun to be cleanly sliced in two. Blot arrived in time to stop Bludgeon's killing stroke, and after exchanging some fierce blows with the Pretender and Snaptrap, Hun-Grrr was in no mood to even try to proclaim his innocence. Summoning the rest of the Terrorcons with a mighty bellow, Hun-Grrr triggered their formation into Abominus.
Abominus was forced to contend with the Seacons' united form, Piranacon. The bestial fury that so often served him well in battle was no match for the consummate hunter, and Abominus was soon impaled through the chest on Piranacon's coral sword. The giant began twitching helplessly as Hun-Grrr went into stasis lock and the other Terrorcons desperately tried to fight off the symbiotic shock. They failed, and the Terrorcons were carted away by Crankcase at Bludgeon's order, for waste disposal. At Fight's End

Following his death in the Underbase battles, Hun-Grr's body was retrieved by Megatron who reanimated and lobotomized him. When Straxus took over leadership of the Decepticons, Hun-Gurrr (wearing Stranglehold's colours) joined the forces under his command and took part in a purge to eliminate every surviving Autobot on Cybertron. Secrets & Lies #3 Having got his own colours back, he was sent as part of Abominus to defend Project Dreadnought's planetary turbines' control hub in Stanix, where the combiner encountered Punch and the Wreckers. After a blow from Rack'n'Ruin's hammer brought Abominus crashing down, Hun-Gurrr and the other Terrorcons separated to battle the Wreckers individually but the Autobots disengaged and retreated as the explosives they had already laid inside the base detonated. Hun-Grrr and his Terrorcons were among the scattered Decepticons that the newly arrived Serpent O.R. united in his bid to take over Cybertron. Although he was doubtful about being ordered around by such a tiny being and not too happy about working with the "obsolete" Predacons, Hun-Grrr saw the light when Serpent O.R. plugged into his brain and proved that he was the "son" of Megatron. Now organized properly under Serpent O.R.'s leadership, the Decepticon launched a massive attack against the Autobots. They managed to capture Optimus Prime, who was delivered to Serpent O.R. in chains by Hun-Gurrr and Motormaster. The Art of War #4 But the Autobot leader broke free of his bonds and took Serpent O.R. by surprise. Hun-Grrr took Optimus on alongside several other combiner team leaders—and was promptly knocked out. Back before the war, Hun-Grrr fought for Megatron in illegal gladiatorial deathmatches. Megatron Origin #2 From here he fell in league with the Decepticons, attending Megatron's rallies and show of power as the new faction took shape. Megatron Origin #3
When Megatron was first defeated by Optimus Prime, Hun-Gar was unimpressed that Scorponok had him punished him with mere exile and made it his mission to finish the job. He took his Terrorcons with him to Junkion to kill his former leader, intending to do the same to Scorponok later on. Wreckage While Megatron was able to fight off the other Terrorcons, Hun-Gar held his own and might've won if Megatron hadn't been able to trap him under some rubble, buying him enough time to regain his strength and blast a hole through the Terrorcon's torso. Recognizing Megatron's power, Hun-Gar swore loyalty to him and begged to be finished off, but Megatron spared him and brought the Terrorcons back to Cybertron for revenge on Scorponok. Prey After he was done beating Scorponok into a sorry pulp, Megatron allowed Hun-Gar's Terrorcons to torture the usurper. The Illusion of Control Hun-Gar went on to participate in Megatron's all-out assault on Iacon. Primacy #4
In the present, Hun-Grrr became the president of the Official Sixshot Fanclub. He and the other Terrorcons were sent to Mumu-Obscura, but were taken prisoner by the Reapers to lure Sixshot to the planet. The Reapers offered membership to their little club so long as Sixshot destroyed the Terrorcons. When they thought Sixshot was seriously considering the offer, Hun-Grrr tried to persuade Sixshot that the Decepticon war machine didn't need the Reapers, as he already had a group of misfit friends in the Terrorcons. He was left speechless when Sixshot demonstrated his skill to the Reapers by intentionally missing the Terrorcons, and the Reapers allowed the Decepticons to leave in peace. Spotlight: Sixshot
Following the end of the war, Hun-Gar and Snap Trap combined their forces and invaded Temptoria. They began converting the natives into energon using pink alchemy, but it was not long before the crew of the Lost Light arrived and gave them a good pounding, eventually liberating the planet. Before & After
During Megatron's trial, Hun-Grrr, Snap Trap, and several other of their forces imprisoned within the Lost Light escaped and assaulted the trial with the misguided goal of liberating Megatron. They traveled to a new universe, and witnessed the power of the local Megatron, concluding that he was a good candidate for recruitment. Worlds Collide
Hun-Gurrr was later sent on a retrieval mission to Quintessa, but the Decepticons back on Earth lost contact with him due to chronic interference. He snacked on one of the native creatures when he ran into Snarl, who was also after the same thing. Just then they were swarmed by Sharkticons! Quintessential Snarl convinced Hun-Gurrr to team up against the Sharkticons, and he gobbled up as many as he can. He was getting full when Snarl unleashed a solar blast and fired the horde. Toys
The Transformers
- Hun-Gurrr (Terrorcon, 1987)
- Team ID number: TR5
- Takara ID number: D-79
- Accessories: "Sonic Stun Gun", Abominus head, Abominus chest shield, left & right Abominus fists, left & right Abominus feet
- Released in the fourth year of Hasbro's US The Transformers toyline (third year in Europe and in Takara's Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers line), Terrorcon Hun-Gurrr transforms into a quadrupedal two-headed dragon (specifically an "Algean two-headed razor beast", if the biography of his Shattered Glass counterpart is to be believed). He has quite a lot of articulation for an original-series toy in this mode, located mostly in the beast mode necks/robot legs, and this extends to his robot mode, with multiple points in his arms and legs and even his head, which rotates for transformation.
- Hun-Gurrr combines with his fellow Terrorcons to form Abominus, serving as the super-robot's torso. He can also combine with any other Transformers that use the "Scramble City"-style connection system. This system also allows you to plug Abominus's chestplate into the connection sockets in Hun-Gurrr's shoulders, forming a gigantic shield.
- There is a later-run variant of Hun-Gurrr, released in 1988, which not only lacks a rubsign, but has been retooled to fill in the indent on his bicep/hindleg where the rubsign would have gone.
- Abominus (Gift set, 1987)
- Takara ID number: D-84
- Accessories: "Sonic Stun Gun", Abominus head, Abominus chest shield, left & right Abominus fists, left & right Abominus feet
- Hun-Gurrr was also available in a gift set with the rest of the Terrorcons. All of the Terrorcons are identical to their individual releases, although it is unknown if the versions without the rubsign indents were released in this format. (It's not terribly likely though.)

- He was available only in a Target-exclusive five-pack with miniature versions of combiner-team leaders Hot Zone, Razorclaw, Scattorshot, and Silverbolt.
Prime
- Hun-Gurrr (Cyberverse Legion Class, 2013)
- Accessories: Dragontooth Saw
- Part of the second wave of Prime: Beast Hunters Series 3 Cyberverse Legion Class toys, Hun-Gurrr transforms into a bipedal twin-headed dragon, and comes with a "Dragontooth Saw." His hands can hold the weapon via the latter's three 3 mm posts, and he and the weapon feature numerous 3mm mounting points.
- Though not called out in the instructions, Hun-Gurrr combines with Cyberverse Twinstrike, Windrazor, Predacon Rippersnapper, and Blight to form Abominus, with Hun-Grrr forming the torso.
- There was a running change to Hun-Gurrr during his production run. Early specimens couldn't fold the claws over all the way in both directions due to problems with the plastic tolerances. Later batches, including those released in international markets, had the problem fixed, now being able to fold over the claws all the way like they were intended to. All subsequent releases and redecos of the sculpt came with problem-free claws.
- This toy was redecoed into Go! Dorara. His saw accessory was also used, in varying colors, by Smokescreen, Soundwave, and the Air Vehicon.
Power of the Primes
- Terrorcon Hun-Gurrr (Voyager Class, 2018)
- TakaraTomy ID number: PP-25
- TakaraTomy release date: August 25, 2018
- Accessories: 2 Prime Armor/combiner feet, Terrorcon Enigma
- Known designers: John Warden (Hasbro), Marcelo Matere (packaging artist)
- Part of the second wave of Power of the Primes Voyager Class figures, "Terrorcon Hun-Gurrr" transforms from robot to two-headed dragon and back. While strongly evocative of the original toy, his tail in robot mode has been moved from his back to his chest, obscuring the detailing beneath based on his original toy's chest. Due to sharing a TakaraTomy designer, Hun-Gurrr's transformation to combined mode shares engineering with Combiner Wars Silverbolt, despite being a wholly-new mold.[1]
- He can also turn into the torso of Abominus, and can attach any Combiner Wars-style Deluxe Class figure. To this end, he includes two pieces of Prime Armor that can each hold a Prime Master (and by extension, a Titan Master, Enigma, or Matrix core), and double as feet for Abominus. Like all the other Voyager Class figures, Hun-Gurrr includes an Enigma of Combination (dubbed the "Terrorcon Enigma"), which can attach to him via the previously mentioned Prime Armor or onto Abominus' chest, which can also facilitate the other previously mentioned objects. Unlike other Voyagers, the Terrorcon Enigma can store in the combined mode chest in every mode and be completely hidden, although this will not work with Enigmas from other Voyager figures (excluding Inferno). Additionally, unlike the vast majority of the other Voyagers, his Prime Armor is based on the classic combiner foot (though with twin blasters on each side to give him some weapons), starkly contrasting with the bestial three-toed clawed feet of the others.
- Due to his transformation engineering, Hun-Gurrr features two sets of swivels per ankle, giving his robot mode extensive ankle articulation and neck articulation in dragon mode. Unfortunately these swivels tend to struggle when trying to support the weight of Hun-Gurrr's robot mode, causing him to frequently fall over forwards or backwards.
- Curiously, Hun-Gurrr's left shoulder features a Decepticon insignia within a black border when his right shoulder features a second insignia without a border; this is allegedly an homage to his rubsign of old, which was also on his left shoulder. In stock renders and painted prototypes, the black-outlined insignia was movie-styled, but it was changed to a normal Decepticon insignia in the final release. Said stock renders and painted prototypes also had gray hips, but the final toy's hips are white. Hun-Gurrr's box also strangely has two of the three renders featured on the back with openly-obscured heads, covered up with white.
- Hun-Gurrr would later be heavily retooled into Generations Selects Turtler and Halfshell.
Generations Selects
- Abominus (Multi-pack, 2021)
- Release date: April 17, 2021
- TakaraTomy ID number: TT-GS12
- Hasbro ID number: TT-GS05
- Accessories: Rifle, two small blasters, "Terrorbreaster", left & right Abominus hands, 2 Abominus feet
- Initially developed by TakaraTomy, Generations Selects Hun-Gurrr is a redeco and retool of his Power of the Primes release, with several new accessories. He comes with the new "Terrorbreaster" piece—yes that's actually what it's called—which can be hold as a shield in robot mode, attach to the top of his dragon mode, or form Abominus's upper chestplate when combining with his henchmen. To accommodate this new piece, most of the original Abominus chest assembly has been removed. Hun-Gurrr also comes with the rifle originally packed with Selects Turtler, in reference to his original toy's sonic stun-gun (hopefully he won't feel tempted to eat it). He also has two extra blasters which can be attached to the rifle.
- Hun-Gurrr by far has the most deco alterations out of all the Selects Terrorcons. The stickers on the sides of his dragon mode necks are gone, the Decepticon stickers on his shoulders are gone, the backs of his robot mode arms are changed to off-white so Abominus's upper legs remain cartoon-accurate, and his face is white with a red visor to reference his cartoon appearance. Two Decepticon insignias are added to his chest to replace the removed stickers from his shoulders. Minor deco changes include adding gray accents to his robot mode chest, and removing the blue and purple trinkets on his robot mode shoulders and his dragon mode necks respectively.
- He was only available in a massive box set of Terrorcons, along with Blot, Cutthroat, Rippersnapper and Sinnertwin. This set was a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive in Japan, with a small-ish number imported and made for sale through Hasbro Pulse; originally slated for release on March 27, Abominus's release was pushed back to April 17.
Notes
- Despite his voracious appetite, Hun-Gurrr prefers ingesting non-living prey.
- The spelling of Hun-Gurrr's name has varied a lot. The spelling used for the title of this article appears on all of his toys' packaging and instructions, and in the 1987 toy catalog. Conversely, the American toy's tech specs (though the European release that was available in bilingual French/Dutch packaging does include the "u"), the American 1988 toy catalog, Blot's The Transformers Universe profile, Dreamwave's More than Meets the Eye entry for the character, Devil's Due Press fiction, and IDW publications like Spotlight: Sixshot and The Ark all spelled it Hun-Grrr, except in More than Meets the Eye #12 and Monstrosity, where it was Hun-Gar. Finally, the Marvel Comics and cartoon series scripts spelled it Hun-Grr except for part 3 of the UK reprint of "Brothers in Armor!!", where he was deliberately renamed Hun-Garr. Phew.
- Hun-Gurrr's character art shows that he has an aborted base mode. The toy is capable of assuming this mode, but it doesn't look like much of anything. It does explain why the toy has knees that otherwise would not be needed for transformation, a feature that is not shared by many Generation 1 toys, and technological-looking molded details on the otherwise-unseen robot mode back/beast mode belly. It would also parallel Scattorshot's cannon mode, possibly replacing the base modes of the first four Scramble style torso bots.
- Some 35 years later, this base mode was canonized after a fashion in the form of the Hellspark mode assumed by the Hun-Gurrr's Generations Selects toy in the pages of the Generations Selects Special Comic.
- Hun-Gurrr is not Hungarian. He's Hun-Gurrrian.
