Drillfrog
From Transformers Wiki
- Drillfrog is a Beastformer from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Drillfrog (ドリルフロッグ Dorirufuroggu) is always ready with a joke, but it's probably going to be dark or at someone else's expense. He's always smiling, but usually blunt and often mean, which earns him equal amounts of scorn and weird admiration. He and Snakebomb have known each other and lived together since infancy, and get along famously. In fact, they now rule the land of Barāki together, with Drillfrog as its King and Snakebomb serving as his subordinate Emperor. Despite his insulting manner, he's actually a fairly popular ruler, as he does in fact work hard to better his country.
In combat, he's a slippery one, capable of powerful leaps, and has the ability to stick to walls and ceilings using the suckers on his hand and feet, allowing him to strike from unusual angles. And he's as at home fighting in water or in the dark underground as he is on the surface. With his Rog Driller (ロッグドリラー Roggu Dorirā) MVP Weapon, he can punch holes in even the hardest bedrock up to 10 meters deep, letting him burrow to an advantageous position. And if he's feeling particularly nasty, he can secrete a poisonous liquid from his skin, capable of contaminating water sources. He and Snakebomb are masters of guerilla warfare, and incredibly dangerous when teamed up.

The Headmasters cartoon
- Voice actor: Hirohiko Kakegawa (Japanese)
Galvatron and the Decepticons came to planet Beast to enslave the population, forcing them to work on a mysterious engineering project. Alligatron and the Beasts loyal to him, including Drillfrog, became collaborators with the Decepticons, helping to enslave their own people. They were opposed by White Leo and his rebel forces. Drillfrog personally supervised in the slave pits, whipping his own people if they failed to work fast enough. After White Leo sought help from the Autobots, the Headmasters and Monsterbots arrived on Beast. Drillfrog watched over the prisoners, Danny and Wheelie, until they managed to escape. Rebellion on Planet Beast
The Headmasters comic

Toys
Transformers: Beastformers
- Drillfrog (Beastformer, 1987)
- ID number: 7
- Pack: A
- Accessories: Scythe (usually)
- Part of the first series of Takara's Beastformers toys, Drillfrog is an anthropomorphic bright green bullfrog in high-tech maroon armor. His left arm ends in a (non-firing) missile. The Battle Emblem on his chest reveals one of three symbols when warmed up; Fire, Water or Wood.
- Nominally, he comes with a silver scythe-weapon marked with a "7" (pictured at right). However, there is also a chance he could come with the weapon from one of the other 11 Beastformers in his shipping case; it is unclear why this happened.
- The Hasbro Battle Beasts release of the figure can have an uncommon variant to his scythe weapon, lacking the "bolts" on the blade, and the "7" ID number on the opposite side from the normal version. It is uncertain if this variant popped up in the Takara line.
- He was only available in the "A Pack" assortment (which was only printed on the shipping case), and came in a purple-grid generic "Destron Beastformer" box. He came with a Transformers-style bio card with a painted character image on a purple grid backdrop, though there was a chance his bio card would instead be replaced with the rare "Holography Mirror" hologram card featuring Platinum Tiger.

Meiji candy toys
- Ramune Beastformers Battle Card (1988)
- Meiji ID number: 24
- A gold-foil "Battle Card" of Drillfrog, featuring his painted character art from his original bio card (seen at top), was available in randomly-packed sets of cards that came with grape-flavored ramune candy tablets. The back of the card features a severely truncated bio, with data for the game from the Meiji chocoball SD figures' packaging.
- Though this card shows line-art of a super-deformed Drillfrog toy, no actual toy was ever produced.
Notes
- As he was not sold in the post-Transformers sequel series and thus had no bio card, his "RPG"-era bio comes from the Hero Special 4: Beastformers mook. This bio gives him the nickname Rog (ロッグ Roggu).
