- Dinoking is a Decepticon Combiner from the Victory portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Dinoking (ダイノキング Dainokingu) is the combination of all six Dinoforce warriors. With the bodies and minds of all six members combined into one, he is the top Decepticon when it comes to mindless violence. He enhances the natural abilities of all the members of the force and adds a few of his own. His brain power, however, is about the same as any individual Dinoforce member, and he is somewhat insubordinate when it comes to taking orders and prefers to go about fighting in his own fashion.
Dinoking has a fierce rivalry with the Autobot Combiner, Landcross. He will stop at nothing to destroy his enemy.
Dinoking is composed of:
- Goryu (Tyrannosaurus rex, leader, left leg)
- Kakuryu (Triceratops, upper torso)
- Gairyu (Ankylosaurus, left arm)
- Yokuryu (Pteranodon, right arm)
- Rairyu (Brontosaurus, lower torso)
- Doryu (Stegosaurus, right leg)

The Dinoforce used Dinoking for the first time when they battled the Brainmasters. The Dinoforce got their butts kicked, until Goryu gave the order to combine into Dinoking. Now they could easily take on the Brainmasters, though Holi, watching them on the main screen at Galaxy Base, was unimpressed with the new gestalt. His appraisal was proven correct when Star Saber shortly arrived and slashed Dinoking, causing him to split into his components. Sneak Attack! Dinoking
In an attempt to please Deathsaurus, Leozack took the Dinoforce to attack Star Saber at Jan's new school. The three Brainmasters arrived and angered Goryu with insults, prompting him to command another Dinoking fusion. The Brainmasters responded by combining into the mighty Road Caesar and were able to defeat the Dinoforce easily. Attack! Leozack
When the Breastforce came up with a plan to capture a power plant, the Dinoforce was sent to carry it out. The Multiforce arrived to stop them, but Goryu ordered his team to combine. Dinoking fought them and weakened the Multiforce until Machtackle suggested they too combine. Leozack blocked their first attempt, then berated Dinoking over the amount of damage they were causing to the plant. After Drillhorn also got on Dinoking's case, the Multiforce combined into Landcross and challenged Dinoking to a fight. This proved unwise, as Landcross was almost beaten to death by Dinoking, Leozack and Drillhorn until Star Saber arrived. Dinoking almost defeated Star Saber, but only because the Autobot leader was holding back until the civilians were evacuated. Once that was done, Star Saber trounced Dinoking easily, forcing the Dinoforce to separate and retreat. Unite!! Multiforce
Leozack then approached Dinoforce while they were relaxing on an island and ordered them to attack a children's amusement park. The Autobot Brainmasters and Rescue Patrol Team arrived to confront them, but Dinoking's battle with Road Caesar was cut short when Leozack abandoned the combiner. Dinoking retreated too, but the Dinoforce were still amused by Leozack's toadying to Deathsaurus. Move Out! Rescue Team
The Decepticon Breastforce took control of a mine and needed the Dinoforce to help take its energy. Angered when Star Saber's ran his V-Star into him, Goryu ordered his team to form Dinoking. However, one blow from Star Saber's sword again forced them back into their single robot modes. Infiltration... The Uranium Mine
Due the arrival of Liokaiser, the combined form of Breastforce, it would be some time before Dinoking would show himself again. In an attempt to calm Deathsaurus's growing anger, Drillhorn came up with a plan to steal a tanker full of energy. At the same time, the Dinoforce would plant a bomb in the city to keep the Autobots at bay. After battling Star Saber and the Brainmasters as a group, they merged into Dinoking to finish off the Autobots, but Star Saber kept Dinoking at bay till until Braver was able to find the bomb. Then Blacker and Laster joined the fight, and the Breastforce and Dinoforce retreated, the plan having ended in failure. Tanker Hijack Operation
Dinoking was needed again in Hellbat's latest plan, which involved kidnapping Jan and Holi. Kakuryu was unsure about the way Hellbat treated them, and Jan and Holi were able to fool Kakuryu and sneak out. Soon after, Star Saber and Galaxy Shuttle arrived. Dinoking battled Star Saber, but turned and ran when Galaxy Shuttle transformed. Rescue Jan!!
Dinoking, Leozack and Hellbat attacked an energy stockpile in the middle of nowhere, but the raid was stopped by a new Autobot: the rebuilt God Ginrai, now called Victory Leo. After Leo easily defeated Leozack, Hellbat and their Breast Animals, Dinoking attempted to stop the Autobot by tossing a massive energy container on him, but Leo shot the container and almost vaporised Dinoking. It was not pretty. Fight!! Victory Leo
Dinoking reappeared a little bit later when the Decepticons attacked Jan's school again. This time, however, he was up against Star Saber and Victory Leo's new, combined form, Victory Saber. Despite Dinoking having a new weapon, the Dinoblaster cannon, he was still defeated by the Autobot and forced back into his individual robot modes yet again. Jan - Defend the Campus!!
After Deathsaurus abandoned the Dinoforce, they continued to attack cities as Dinoking, unaware of the betrayal. They faced Victory Leo and Star Saber again, but when the two Autobots fled, he believed they were fleeing from him—until he turned around and saw the incoming meteor fired by Deathsaurus's fortress. Dinoking was blasted apart by the explosion, and a badly-damaged Goryu was rushed to Autobot Shuttle base for repairs. The Wrath of the Resurrected Giant Fortress!
Victory comic
The Dinoforce were laying waste to a city, eventually combining into Dinoking for the kill. Their rampage was cut short when the Multiforce combiner, Landcross, arrived. He declared his intentions to become the Decepticon's new rival, and the two squared off. Dinoking was defeated and forced into retreat. So Cool! Our Ally, Star Saber!
Much later, when Dinoking finally showed himself again, Star Saber was forced to battle Deathsaurus, Liokaiser and Dinoking all at once. Before they could destroy him, a new Autobot warrior named Victory Leo arrived and struck back. Star Saber and Victory Leo combined into the powerful Autobot Victory Saber and were able to defeat their enemies with their "Flash Victory" attack. The Strongest Pair, the Combination of Victory!
Kre-O comic
Dinoking was with the Decepticons when they showed the "Metrotitan" form of their newly repainted Decepticon City. Two Giant Bases! Everybody Getting Along, Come On, Fight!
Toys
Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers
- Dinoking (Dinoforce giftset, 1989)
- ID number: D-328
- Known designers: Kōjin Ōno (TakaraTomy), Masakatsu Saito (concept artist)
- Released in the Victory-branded portion of the Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers toyline, under the Dinoforce gimmick-based subline imprint, Dinoking is formed by combining the six members of the Dinoforce, who were available both individually and as a giftset. He is a redeco of the Pretender Monster combiner Monstructor. Much like the earlier combiner teams, Dinoking requires the attachment of separate accessories—his head, waist, fists and feet—to complete his combined mode. However, unlike earlier combiners, the separate pieces can all be stored on the individual team members; they fit on the Dinoforce's shells. Dinoking wields the "Dino Blaster" which—if you bought the individual figures—comes with Kakuryu.
- As his individual components are not much larger than Micromasters, Dinoking is the smallest of the Generation 1 combiners, standing about the same height as regular toys like Hot Rod… yes, even shorter than the Micromaster Six-Teams' combined forms.
Legacy
- Dinoking (Gift set, 2024)
- TakaraTomy name: Decepticon Dinoking (ディセプティコンダイノキング)
- TakaraTomy ID number: TL-89
- TakaraTomy release date: 2025 March 29
- Accessories: Multi-part axe, multi-part cannon
- Known designers: Evan Brooks (Hasbro), Shogo Hasui and Shuhei Umezu (TakaraTomy), Amy Bence (packaging)[1][2]
- Finally achieving the form this mold set was clearly meant to be from the beginning, Legacy: United Dinoking is a redeco and retooling of the Legacy: Evolution Core Class Dinobot combiner Volcanicus, with his deco favoring the anime portrayal over the original toy's. Also unlike his original toy, his limbs are not designed to swap with each other.
- Aside from everyone in the set having a new-mold head, Dinoking comes with a slew of new parts. His new fist-parts give him wrist swivels and a bit more forearm structural integrity. A pair of large non-firing missile pods attach to the soles of his feet, giving him extra stability thanks to the broader, solid surface and addition of ankle tilts. Three new melee weapons combine with the single small sword accessory from the original Snarl tooling to form his signature axe from the anime. He also has a handgun based on the cannon from the original toy. Whew!
- He was only available in a Hasbro PulseCon 2024 box set of six Dinoforce members: Doryu, Gairyu, Goryu, Kakuryu, Rairyu, and Yokuryu.
Notes
- According to Dinoking's Bio & Tech Spec card, he has a special ability he has never actually used in fiction: by gathering energy in his chest, he can perform the "Dino Crusher Energy" attack, a planet-altering power strong enough to turn a modern metropolis into a primeval world.[3] Then again, maybe it's a good thing he hasn't altered reality on a whim!
- The Victory anime depicted the Dinoforce members as carrying melee weapons, rather than the blasters the toys actually came with; Dinoking uses a large axe/sickle with a spearhead mounted on top. He either fires energy beams from the spearhead or rings of energy from any of the blades. He also possesses the gargantuan "Dinoblaster Cannon," a large blaster amalgamated from his individual components' rarely-used guns. Aside from its usage as a firearm, it can also function as a makeshift club and was only seen in "Jan - Defend the Campus!!"
