The second-worst part of the job is the spare change that falls into his joints. You can guess what the first-worst part is.

The Chairman is one of the older members of the Tidal Wave crew. One of his functions is to write all the captain's speeches, spending most of his time in his quarters wordsmithing so that he can later display the resulting speeches on the teleprompter on his chest. The current Cannonball doesn't rely on him as much as previous Cannonballs, and some of the other members of the crew resent the Chairman not pitching in with the work.

The Chairman's other function is that he transforms into the Captain's chair. He is mobile in this form though, allowing for his captain to engage in dramatic entrances and exits.

Give 'em an inch, they'll sit all over you.

The Chairman was one of the longest serving members of the Star Seekers, having worked under the last three Cannonballs. His... unusual duties meant that he acted as the captain's speech writer (including using his chestplate as a teleprompter) and transformed into an actual chair, working as Cannonball's mobile throne.

Shortly after the Tidal Wave passed through the Demon's Maw and suffered an attack from a giant space-faring creature, Cannonball gave a speech, aided by the Chairman. At the end of the speech, the Chairman transformed so he could carry Cannonball off. Tornado - Decepticon Saboteur

When the Star Seekers traveled into the future for Cannonball's latest booty, the Chairman dramatically lowered to captain down to Delta Prysmos after Ferak's intramoment instabilizer neutralized the Autobot resistance. Despite the sheer audaciousness of Cannonball's plan to travel into the future and raid a Golden Age of Cybertron of its energon, the crew managed to land in the era of a techno-organic Cybertron, and were captured by the Autobots. Hoist the Flag

After the crew escaped the Knights, the Chairman refused to use his alternate mode any more. The crew embarked on a new quest to find Starscream's immortal spark, during which the Chairman reported on some strange activities on board the ship. It soon turned out that Starscream's spark had found them, and allied with Flamewar in a mutiny that (along with a healthy dose of forestonite) allowed him to possess Cannonball's body and reformat it into a version of his own. As Starscream departed and Cannonball's spark was cast down onto a deserted planetoid, the Chairman pledged his loyalty to Flamewar and once again served as the captain's personal throne.
