- Area 54 is a government facility from the Armada portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
Area 54 is an isolated facility in the Nevada desert belonging to the autonomous agency E.R.T.D..
On its exterior, Area 54 appears to be a private airstrip., but its three 'hangars' actually conceal a research installation that goes down many levels.
Area 54 was active between the 1950s and 2003, when E.R.T.D. was shut down.

After discovering the Land Military Mini-Con Team in 1959, the E.R.T.D. brought them to Area 54, at one point putting them through a field test outside the base. The Mini-Cons escaped and made it to the nearby town of Stillwater, but were quickly recaptured. Blast From the Past!
In 2003, the E.R.T.D. managed to capture the Air Defence Mini-Con Team as well, and brought them to Area 54 to be turned into weapons like the Land Military Team. However, the Mini-Cons woke up and hacked the Area 54 mainframe in order to learn about their other Mini-Con prisoners. They then escaped from the base through a conveniently huge air duct. 'We are Not Alone!'
