This paper seeks to define the nature and scope of temporary protection in the EU's Temporary Protection Directive and whether it has the potential to be applied successfully to deal with the current refugee crisis. The conclusions contend that, in its current format, the Temporary Protection Directive should not be invoked given certain gaps in protection that would ensue.
