I am using Thunderbird on my arm64 Linux machines (Raspberry Pi 4 and 5 and my Odroid C2) and I want Thunderbird to send the correct platform information in the User-Agent line. After enabling Thunderbird to sent the full User-Agent line the following information is currently sent:

User agent:Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:140.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/140.0 Thunderbird/140.9.0

Everything is correct except for 'x86_64'. I would like to have sent the actual 'arm64' information because I'm proud using my small ARM64 machines as workstations and as a replacement for classic PCs and I do want to have this information distributed with every mail I am sending with Thunderbird.

Is there an easy way to get the correct information about my arm64 machines into the User agent line?

I am happy for any advice and help.

Identified spam messages are not moved to spam folder

Thunderbird Filelink uses end-to-end encryption and files are only encrypted/decrypted locally but unless the code running on your system is reviewed and validated you don't really know what it does. I would think that every time recipients click on the link and use the web interface to download a file, their browser is sent a script that does the decoding. Similarly, if you use the web interface of a Send instance to send a file, your browser is sent a script for encoding.

If the above is correct, how do we know these scripts are always the open source scripts that have been independently validated? Isn't it conceivable that a Send instance may send you a customized script for encryption/decryption that compromises encryption? This could be done with selected targets to avoid attracting attention too.

Using an iMac running vs. 140.9.0esr(aarch64) "up to date", emails addressed to "***@shaw.ca" I receive error reports that says "Server shaw.ca returned" "message reached max retries". Example: Email was sent at 04/01 13:31 and the error msg was dated 04/02 02:16:11. This is not a one-off trial; similar errors are obtained with different "@shaw.ca" addresses.

Using Thunderbird vs. 149.0.1 (aarch64) on a Mac Pro, running on the same local network and same telco connection as the iMac, messages to "***@shaw.ca" are processed in normal time without error msg.

I am trying to export multiple messages that were sent to me encrypted with my pgp key as .eml files that contain the unencrypted message without needing to be decrypted. When using the default save function and ImportExportToolsNG on both server messages and locally stored messages, the .eml files exported just contain the encrypted pgp message block. Is this possible or will I have to manually decrypt each message?

Hallo, die Kontakte im Adressbuch werden mit Carddav zu meinem Mailaccount (IONOS) nur teilweise syncronisiert. Die Syncronisation endet bei 1000 Einträgen, ist das so gewollt oder kann ich dies ändern? Fehlermeldungen gibt es dazu keine. Die betrifft die Thunderbird un Linux Ubuntu. Ich Thunderbird Windows 11 funktioniert alles.

Can you please have a look at the following problem: I decided to re-index my mails. after I realized that the search results did structurally not contain any messages from 2026. I deleted the global-messages-db.sqlite. However, this did not lead to the desired result. After processing some folders, I can see in Activity Manager that the indexing stands still after having processed about 20% of the "Sent Mail" folder of a gmail account. I waited more than 12 hours, but the number of indexed messages did not increase. The file size of the global-messages-db.sqlite at this moment is only 2.3 KB, while the original database was more that 300 MB large.

I already tried the following without success:

  1. restarted TB
  2. deleted the database for the second time
  3. restarted my PC
  4. repaired said "Sent Mail" folder

I am running Thunderbird 140.9.0esr on Windows 11.

I have followed all the other recommendations with, no luck. I am on Windows 11 and use Eset virus software. Thunderbird is not listed as running it Task Manager, and there is no Profile.lock (think that was what it was called) in the profile directory, and I have deleted the existing profiles and recreated it. I have uninstalled and reinstall Thunderbird, and I have rebooted my computer. I am frustrated and concerned I will loose saved emails and my address book! Help.

Hi, I am hoping that the community can help me find an answer to this. I have two computers that I use for work. The one in the office has TB running all the time and before I leave for the weekend/vacation I would close TB, copy the profile folder to a USB (or copy it to cloud) and then paste the profile folder on my work laptop (at home). While all the settings get copied (local folders structure, addons etc.) as I use IMAP, it downloads all the mail on the new system regardless. I thought that it should have the latest mail downloaded as part of the profile folder, is that not the case? The bigger issue is that none of the Completed Tasks Lists, Templates, etc. get updated. It still shows all the older stuff on the work laptop and no updates carry over from the PC (at work). Going through the profile folder I see multiple copies of the files prefs.js, folderCache.json, global-messages-db.sqlite appended as: prefs-computername.js and folderCache-computername.json etc. (The computername is the name of the PC - office/laptop) The profile name is the same between the two computers. TB is only started after the profile is copied locally. TB version is the same between systems. I am left scratching my head why somethings are copied but not others. Hoping that the community can help me here. Thanks!

So I have a couple of accounts that do this and not on others (Same domain and server) When the messages come through they are doubled like they are on a thread, but the same exact message. All settings in Thunderbird and the server email config are the same for all addresses,. I have three out of ten that do this for some odd reason.
