Shiri
Mataridziko

- Besu kana mupesu (tail of bird, fish or aeroplane). Pahuwandu toti mapesu. KuChiNdau vanoti musuka kana chisuka.
- Mambava (soft feathers, down).
- Chimbi (Spur of bird).
- Nyana mwana weshiri.
- Kapupu, mupupu kana mhupu (Growing fowl). Zvichida ndipo panobva zita rokuti Nyakapupu?

- Chigwambura chinogadzirwa nendandi yerhekeni.
- Shiri dzinomhumha pamurwi worukweza - apa kureva kumomotera - settle on and cover.

- Kuti handa (Lie down (or settle) all together as of birds).
- Kudanauka (Moult) apa zvichireva kuunduka.
- Kudanaura kana kuundura (Let feathers fall. Pluck feathers). Hoto kana yararira inodanaura minhenga senyana: when a hornbill has hatched its eggs it moults like a young bird.
Zvirevo
[chinjirudza | chinjirudza mabviro]- Shiri ipinda haipedzi mhunga. A passing bird does not finish a mhunga field. A bird is a passerby it cannot deplete your millet.
- Kashiri kapangami kanovaka dendere neminhenga yedzimwe shiri. A clever bird builds its nest with other birds' feathers
- Shiri huru haibatwi nehundi. A big bird cannot be trapped with chaff.
- Shiri yomusaririra ndiyo yemhina. The last bird is (destined) for the wooden-headed arrow.
- Chidhiidhii kutsvara hundi mwoyo uri kumakoto. While a little bird scratches chaff, its heart is after chaff with grain.
- Kabva muzai kava kashiri. That which has hatched is (already) a bird.

- Umbundu vanoti etosi (drop) kureva matosi. Chopi vanoti kudandama (v. alight upon as a bird) kureva kumhara.
