Web Accessibility Updates and Bug Fixes

Happy Spring!

The Columbia Sites team is excited to share some recent updates.  

Starting Thursday, May 16 and ending Sunday, May 19, we will roll out a platform-wide update that strengthens our commitment to providing accessible websites. We’ve implemented a wide-range of accessibility fixes that include:   

Accessibility 

• Icons
  • Are now recognizable to screen readers
• Events
  • Calendar Pick a Date now supports navigating by keyboard
• Soundcloud Embed
  • Embedded styles stripped from markup
• Tabbed Content
  • Contrast improved for Tabbed Content
• Tables
  • Keyboard accessible and scrollable
  • Scope attributes added for markup

Email Server Update

If your site utilizes webforms and sends confirmation emails or submission emails for example, the server being used to send these email messages will be updated.

There should be no noticeable changes to end users, however, if clients believe their email msgs are not sending correctly, they should contact us for further troubleshooting.

Bug Fixes

• Miscellaneous - Various Aria attributes reworked for markup
