to highlight the role of early marriage, cultural norms, biases, and societal expectations in this respect. Data gathered from this research were also subjected to the operative principles of Human Capital Theory, which underscores economic and social variables
that influence education. Human Capital Theory asserts that individuals can enhance their economic productivity and potential earnings through investments in education and training, and emphasizes the rational decision-making process regarding educational investments. It explores the role of parental education, the intergenerational cycle of educational disadvantages and the impact of well-educated parents on their children’s academic success. It scrutinizes geographic barriers to quality education, infrastructure deficiencies, security concerns, resource allocation disparities, and environmental challenges which are especially pronounced in remote and marginalized regions and perpetuate disparities in educational opportunities. This study concludes by emphasizing an urgent need for comprehensive reforms in Nigeria's education system and the implementation of progressive policies as a means of rectifying historical and regional injustices, improving parental education, and bridging gender and socioeconomic disparities. This study also recommends these steps to pave the way for a more equitable and empowering educational milieu, and to drive social development.
