Tallow
Appearance
Tallow is a type of rendered fat, meaning it comes from animal meat that isn’t used for eating. It can come from beef or mutton. It usually has a longer shelf life than suet. Tallow could also come from other animals like bison. Lard is a type of tallow that comes from pigs. Tallow has been used for many things, as a soap ingredient, a cooking fat, and fuel.
Tallow is mostly made up of saturated and monounsaturated fats and triglycerides.[1]
