James Gardner March (January 15, 1928 – September 27, 2018)[1] was an American sociologist. He was a professor at Stanford University and the Stanford Graduate School of Education. He was best known for his research on organizations, his (jointly with Richard Cyert) A behavioral theory of the firm and organizational decision making.[2]

March died on September 27, 2018, aged 90.[3]
