Background: Muscular flexibility is an important aspect of normal human function. Limited flexibi... more Background: Muscular flexibility is an important aspect of normal human function. Limited flexibility has been shown to predispose a person to several musculoskeletal overuse injuries and significantly affect a person's level of function. Objective of the study was to compare the effectiveness of PNF (holdrelax) and Neurodynamic sliding technique for improving hamstring flexibility. Materials and Methods: 60 participants with hamstring tightness were allocated into two groups (30 participants in each group). The outcome measure used was AKE test. Subjects of group A were treated with PNF hold relax stretching, whereas the subjects of group B were treated with Neurodynamic sliding technique. For both experimental groups, the technique was performed three times a week for a total training period of four weeks. Results: The results demonstrated significant improvement in hamstring flexibility for subjects of group A when compared with those of group B (P = 0.01) at the end of four weeks. Conclusion: Although the study supports the experimental hypothesis that PNF (Hold-Relax) stretching technique is more effective than Neurodynamic sliding technique for improving hamstring flexibility.

Introduction: Football is the most popular high-intensity intermittent team sport that requires s... more Introduction: Football is the most popular high-intensity intermittent team sport that requires speed, strength, agility, and endurance. During official matches, elite football players perform 150-250 shortlasting, energy-demanding intense actions interspersed with periods of low-intensity jogging or running. Collegiate football programs place great importance on controlling player's body weight, body composition, muscle strength, and length. Of all the muscle strains associated with competitive sport, hamstring strains are the most common and problematic. Objectives: To determine the correlation between hamstring flexibility and functional performance of collegiate football players. Methods: 100 subjects who met the inclusion criteria were enrolled in the study. Once the baseline data was collected the subject's hamstring flexibility was assessed by the Active knee extension test (AKE) and limb length was measured. Subjects were then asked to perform Illinois Agility Test, 30m Sprint Test and Wall Mount test, and Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT). Three trials of each test were performed, and the mean was taken for statistical evaluation. Result: There exists weak correlation between sprint, agility, SEBT, and hamstrings length; however, results indicate a moderate correlation between posterolateral reach distance and hamstring flexibility and a statistically significant relationship between hamstring length and vertical height of jump with p< 0.05. Conclusion: Hamstring flexibility has a weak correlation with functional performance of collegiate football players. However, it has positive correlation with vertical jump height and posterolateral reach distance of SEBT.

In cricket, the majorities of injuries are of a noncontact nature and have traditionally been thought of as "overuse" injuries. The CricFit intervention is focused on aspects such agility, strength, power, endurance, speed, flexibility, repeat sprint ability, injury prevention and performance and improve the cricket-specific physical fitness and performance of cricket players. Objective: To determine the effect of CricFit Intervention program on throwing and running performance in non-elite Adolescent Cricketers. Method: 40 Non-elite male adolescent cricket players within age group 19-24 randomly assigned and baseline variables were recorded pre and post. CricFit intervention program 35-45 min per session is given. The intervention also incorporated a dynamic warm-up and a static cool-down. Pre and post intervention, the parameter assessed by using functional throwing performance index (FTPI), radar gun, 17.68-m with bat sprint cricket speed test. Results: The CricFit intervention program in pre test the Mean and SD of FTPI was 52.90±15.28, which was decreased in post test with Mean and SD 53.63±10.16. The Wilcoxon test for pre and post test were no significant at (p> 0.05). In pre test the Mean and SD of Radar Gun was 101.33±7.68, which was increased in post test with Mean and SD of 104.53±8.08, the t-test for pre and post score were significant at (p< 0.001). In pre test the Mean and SD of 17.68-m with bat sprint cricket speed test 3.21±0.22, which was reduced in post test with Mean and SD of 2.73±0.46, the t-test for pre and post test score were significant at (p< 0.001). Conclusion: It evidenced that CricFit intervention program was statistically significantly improved the throwing speed and running performance among the non elite adolescent cricket player but no statistically significant differences was seen in throwing accuracy.

Introduction: The angle between a horizontal line passing through C7 and a line extending from th... more Introduction: The angle between a horizontal line passing through C7 and a line extending from the ear tragus to C7 is known as the craniovertebral angle. This angle is a reliable measure for the identification of head and neck position. For CV angle measurement, the electronic head posture instrument (EHPI) is used. Its measuring scale is accurate to the first decimal place and the angle is read automatically by the electronic sensor. Objectives: The aim of this study was to find if there exists a relationship between load and craniovertebral angle in construction workers. Methodology: The craniovertebral angle was measured and weight-correlated. Using an electronic head posture instrument, the angle was measured. It consists of three components: a transparent plastic frame, an electronic angle finder, and a camera tripod stand. On the transparent plastic frame, the angle finder is placed and attached to the tripod stand. The distance to the middle of the tripod from the subject's shoulder is 0.3 m and the distance between the operator's eye and the tripod is 0.5 m. The placement was done using a measuring tape. The spinous process of C7 is palpated and an adhesive pin is placed onto it. Another adhesive pin is placed on the left ear tragus. Photograph was taken from a distance of 0.5 m, until the line on the transparent plastic base was aligned with the pin markers. Result: The mean±standard deviation of CV angle of male construction workers (42.21±4.41) was significantly lower than the mean CV angle in female construction workers (46.09±4.50). The average load (kg) carried by women (40.22 ±6.82) was lower than that carried by men (47.23±5.30). The Karl Pearson method was used in order to determine if a linear relationship exists between the load (kg) and CV angle, and an inversely proportional relationship was observed but was not significant in men (r=-0.049 NS) and (r=-0.089 NS) women construction workers. Conclusions: To avoid problems and to prevent musculoskeletal disorders, the amount of overhead load has to be minimized. Many of the musculoskeletal issues can be avoided by improving the quality of workplace environment, minimizing exposure to external loads acting on the body, improving job procedures, coordinating work, as well as educating, training workers in the identification of ergonomic hazards, teaching problem solving skills and enabling them to find suitable solutions.
