FIG: the geometric family trio.
FIG is a trio of typefaces made in the spirit of early email and ASCII art. Named for the collaboration of Frank Sheeran, Ian Chai and Glenn Chappell that produced the FIGlet program, FIG Sans and Serif follow FIGlet’s reductionist construction principal literally: they are made from a single element. FIG Sans uses only the + symbol while FIG Serif uses the * symbol to construct each character. FIG Script follows a less rigid structure, arriving at something of an upright script, pairing primitive geometry and swooping ascenders/descenders. Both FIG Sans and Serif have old style figures.
