After not being allowed to use the washroom in class, Manny ends up with wet pants. Mary, upset about the incident, insists on confronting his teacher. Embarrassed by the encounter, Manny can't help but express resentment for the ways of their culture. The following day, Mary prepares hot dogs for Manny and his friend Scott in hopes of saving her son from further discomfort. Manny is shaken with fear when Scott asks for a bowl of the traditional Portuguese soup. Although, Scott quickly loves the soup, the outsider approval is not enough to fix the strained relationship between mother and son.
