Beaucoup d'expressions figées en français sont des verbes à complément figé, le sujet restant libre. Les phrases à sujet figé (PSF) sont bien moins nombreuses, telles que Les carottes sont cuites ou Ça ne mange pas de pain. Ces expressions se divisent en deux groupes dans le discours : les expressions qui se manifestent dans un environnement non dialogique et celles qui se manifestent dans un environnement dialogique. La classification proposée ici est donc fondée sur des considérations d'ordre pragmatique, mais la subdivision des classes prend en compte les propriétés sémantiques des expressions.

Après avoir délimité les cadres non dialogique et dialogique, l'auteur examine le degré de subjectivité dans les PSF et la notion de la non-compositionnalité pragmatique, jusqu'ici absente dans les grammaires transformationnelles. Il propose également une définition formalisée du prédicat illocutoire. Les expressions du type dialogique sont classifiées à base pragmatique (type d'acte de langage, facteur déclenchant l'expression). Enfin, l'auteur propose des critères distributionnels fiables pour la distinction entre les non dialogiques et les dialogiques aussi.

Au début du scénario de L’éternel retour (la transposition moderne de l’histoire de Tristan et Iseut réalisé par Jean Delannoy) Jean Cocteau s'exprime ainsi :

« Ce  titre emprunté à Nietzsche veut dire ici que les mêmes légendes peuvent renaître sans que leurs héros s'en doutent, l’éternel  retour de circonstances très simples qui composent la plus célèbre de toutes les grandes histoires de coeur » .

C’est pourquoi nous avons choisi ce thème, nous voudrions examiner et découvrir ce côté caché, mythique de l’histoire de Tristan et Iseut, afin de savoir : comment est-elle devenu la racine, l’origo de toutes les autres histoires d’amour malheureux de la culture occidentale ?
Les circonstances et la « structure » de l’amour d’ Abélard et Héloïse, de Roméo et Juliette ou celui de Ferdinand et Louise, de Julien et Mme de Rênal sont les mêmes, or, toutes sont des histoires de passions fatales et d’amours tragiques. Toutes sont des transcriptions d’un couple mythique, celui de Tristan et Iseut.
Mais en quoi consiste le secret du mythe de Tristan ? Enfin, que signifie le mythe de Tristan et Iseut ? Ces sont les questions principales auxquelles nous tenterons de donner une réponse dans ce travail.

“Fielding is straightforward in connecting her novels to Austen’s:  ‘I shamelessly stole the plot from Pride and Prejudice for the first book.  I thought it had been very well market-researched over a number of centuries and she probably wouldn’t mind’” (Cecilia Salber, “Bridget Jones and Mark Darcy: Art Imitating Art”, Persuasion On-Line, 2001).

If one read Bridget Jones’s Diary before or after they had read Pride and Prejudice, the allusions or appropriations applied by Helen Fielding seem to be quite evident: the name and character of Mark Darcy is quite the equal of Fitzwilliam Darcy, in Bridget’s behaviour one can easily detect the characteristics of Elizabeth Bennet, their love stories resonate as well. Moreover, Bridget’s mother is as unbearable as Mrs. Bennet and Daniel Clever is the same handsome-but-dangerous womanizer as Mr. Wickham for whom one can easily fall.
Therefore, in this paper, I am aiming to discover to what extent Helen Fielding’s famous novel, Bridget Jones’s Diary is the modern heir to Jane Austen’s novels. After a brief introduction, I would like to explore the level of relatedness among Pride and Prejudice and Fielding’s fictional diary, Bridget Jones’s Diary regarding their genres, literary-historical contexts and narrative techniques.
In the meantime, I wish to contradict the – mainly feminist – critics, for example Alison A. Case (Plotting Women: Gender and Narration in the Eighteenth- and Nineteenth-Century British Novel, 1999) and Rosalind Gill (“Rewriting the romance: new femininities in chick lit?”, Feminist Media Studies, 2006), who accused Bridget Jones’s Diary of being anti-feminist in our era of post-feminism, explaining that Bridget’s character is unrealistic and she lacks narrative or behavioural control. That being so – they say – Fielding’s novel is not worthy of her ancestor’s name, nor deserves to be treated as traditional “women’s literature”. It just simply belongs to the category of “chick lit”, of popular woman’s fiction. Consequently, in this essay, I am trying to show the similarities between Austen’s and Fielding’s work, to underline the literary importance of Bridget Jones and finally to emphasize its feminism.

This essay proposes to present and analyse the pictures or representations of Paris in Ernest Hemingway’s,
Francis Scott Fitzgerald’s and Gertrude Stein’s different works. The theoretical framework of
the piece is geocriticism by which the author attempts to discover how these works contributed to the
literary construction of the French capital. The other objective of the essay is however to show the
birth of a Parisian literary myth.
After giving a brief overview of recent spatiality studies, the paper explains in-depth the geocritical
method by the analysis of certain extracts of the different literary perceptions of Paris in the
twenties, written by Francis Scott Fitzgerald (Babylon Revisited), Ernest Hemingway (A Moveable
Feast) and Gertrude Stein (Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas, Paris, France). The latter approach can
help to shed some light on the reasons why these expatriates (American and British writers, artists)
came to Paris in the first place and what attracted them so much. Later on, the paper explains that the
artists of the Lost Generation were disoriented and aimless after the war, so they headed to Paris to
find some ‘old’ values and rebuild their lifes.
These authors found there a new and very inspirational atmosphere, new friends, new goals,
they started interesting publishing initiatives and searched for their proper literary voices. In the
meantime, by representing the always exciting and crowded Parisian life, they created a literary myth
of Paris which considers the city as safe haven for artists and writers – saying that Paris is a never
resting “moveable feast”.
