The rise of one ecological-technological-social system encompassing our whole planet is an important element of these processes. Solving big global problems demands knowledge of two complementary sorts: on the one hand – going “in depth”, on the other – going “in breadth”. The present paper assumes the second (in a sense: philosophical) perspective. It tries to analyze some relations between the development of technology (IT) and the development of democracy. The notion of democracy, its various forms and axiological reasons for it are considered first. In the subsequent chapter different consequences (both positive and negative) the IT development has for contemporary democracy are discussed. In the next chapter the evolutionary nature of the technological development is debated as well as the question of (democratic) control of this process. The development of Artificial General Intell...

It could be divided into four phases (the last one is still open). Second, we undertake an ontological analysis of this notion. It starts from the general notion of change and development, and ends with a tripartite typology of ideas labelled with the phrase “social development”. Third, we discuss the specific historical context in which the concepts of value and of axiology came to the fore. We try to demonstrate how this context is related with the evolution of the notion of social development. We end the text with remarks on intellectual and moral autonomy and on some conditions of public debates.

The paper is devoted to the notion of democracy and to various values related to democracy. According to the authors’ view these values are best actualized in participative deliberative democracy.

These questions are viewed as a part of the broader problematics of globalization. Due to the very complex nature of this problematics the role of philosophy – in particular analytical and science-based philosophy – is emphasized. We underscore the importance of philosophy for the developing global consciousness and – indirectly – for the development of global society.

In the paper, it has been tried to demonstrate that an attempt to construct such a theory is the rational intellectual undertaking, because the opinions about the impossibility of the philosophy of History have not been well-grounded. Keywords: philosophy of History, philosophy of history, political philosophy, „History-game” („playing History”).

Autorzy kolejnej grupy tekstów prowadzą analizy z obranych przez perspektyw teoretycznych: marksizmu analitycznego i socjologii historyczno-porównawczej. Artykuły należącej do trzeciej grupy tekstów stanowią przykład modelowania świata społecznego w wymiarze historycznym i współczesnym.
