This paper aims to examine the curriculum of the Philosophy of the Human Person course taught in ... more This paper aims to examine the curriculum of the Philosophy of the Human Person course taught in Senior High School in the Philippines, using the insights of Bro. Romualdo Abulad, SVD, a renowned philosopher and pioneer of Filipino Philosophy. Based on an exclusive interview with Bro. Abulad in 2018, the article discusses the history, changes, and challenges in shaping the Philosophy of the Human Person curriculum, from Rational Psychology to its current form in the K to 12 curriculum. According to Abulad, there is a need for the Philosophy of the Human Person curriculum to be inclusive and holistic in order to prepare students for the challenges posed by the influx of new global ideas. Abulad also emphasized the need for a balanced approach to teaching, rooted in the history of philosophy while addressing contemporary issues. The findings from the interview provide valuable insights for the continuous development of philosophical education in the Philippines, aligning with the goals of the MATATAG Curriculum and UNESCO's global standards for teaching philosophy.

This paper examines the job-seeking experiences of the 2019 Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood... more This paper examines the job-seeking experiences of the 2019 Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLE) graduates from a teacher education university. Identifying these graduates’ employability is vital to the field of educational research, particularly in determining the impact of a higher education institution’s BTLE program. Employing quantitative research design through a survey of 50 graduates, this research revealed that great majority of them have been employed, with majority securing education-related jobs within a year after graduation, while some having chosen careers unrelated to their pre-service education. Strategies for job search and reasons for job offer acceptance vary from traditional, economic concerns, to complexities of work opportunities and requirements. Quito (11 September 1929 – 17 September 2017). This paper highlights her contention regarding the role of decolonization as a necessity for the restoration of Filipino identity. This paper is divided into three parts: the first part introduces Quito as one of the country’s unique philosophers who aspired for the greater glory of the Filipino people; the second part features her thoughts on Filipino identity and decolonization as the ultimate symbol of her intellectual journey as a philosopher and patriot; and lastly, we shall try to show the weaknesses and limitations of Quito’s views.

It has been said this problem implies gender inequality in relation to their male counterpart for it results in the lack of male models in the basic education and, thus promote social exclusion. This social reality is also the case in the Philippines. Data in 2008–2009 from the Philippine Commission on Women reveals that about 89.58% of the teachers in public elementary and 77.06% in the public secondary schools are female (pcw, 2014). In this regard, this paper argues that feminisation of education in the Philippines, all the more result to uncompromising situations of female teachers for as women, they need to work in shifts as part of their changing roles both in school and at home. Women oppression is a universal reality. She is the victim, the exploited, the dominated and the ... more Women oppression is a universal reality. She is the victim, the exploited, the dominated and the other. As a post-colonial thinker, I argue that Filipino women have been victims of the movement of social dialectics. As Philippine Society evolved and developed, she had been a victim not only of male domination but also of political economy. This research shows how female subordination and male domination emerged in the Philippines. As such, it contends that there is a blurring identity of Filipino women – that is, Filipino women as situated in the neo-colonial period-are victims of political economy and male domination.
