- the application sites of commercial product A and the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) were the buttocks of the care recipients. The results are shown in FIG. 3.
- the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention was rated as having the same level of protective (water-repellent) effect as the commercially available product A, but the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention was rated higher in terms of usability such as moist feeling, spreadability, stickiness, and smooth feeling than the commercially available product A.
- the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention has the same level of water repellency as the commercially available product A, which contains petrolatum as the main component (98.8% by mass), but has a better usability than the commercially available product A.
- the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention was evaluated as being about the same as commercially available product B in terms of spreadability, but the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention was evaluated as being higher in terms of protective (water repellent) effect and moist feeling (moisturizing power) than commercially available product B.
- the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention has a similar feel when used as commercially available product B, which is a water-repellent skin care cream that does not contain petrolatum, but has better water repellency than said commercially available product B.
- the fact that the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention has a superior protective (water repellent) effect compared to the commercially available product B is consistent with the results of Test Example 5.

[Example 1: Preparation of water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent)]
A water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) having the composition shown in Table 1 was prepared.
Specifically, after dissolving silicone-based film-forming agent in ester oil, dissolve oil-soluble components such as polyglycerol fatty acid ester and petrolatum, and if necessary, heat to about 80°C, and stir using a stirrer.Separately, dissolve various water-soluble components such as moisturizer in water, and if necessary, heat to about 80°C, and after confirming that the various water-soluble components are completely dissolved, use a homomixer to gradually add this to the solution in which silicone-based film-forming agent is dissolved, and emulsify.Cool appropriately, and prepare water-in-oil type emulsion composition (water repellent) of each formulation.
Comparative Example 1 is a commercially available cream containing petrolatum as the main component (98.8% by mass) (hereinafter also referred to as "Commercial Product A"), and Comparative Example 2 is petrolatum. The amount of each component in the table represents the mass % based on the total mass of the composition (water repellent).

Results: In order to compare the tackiness between the samples, when the tackiness (average value) of Vaseline (Comparative Example 2) was taken as 1.0, the tackiness ratio of the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention was 0.4, which was less than half of the tackiness of Vaseline. On the other hand, the tackiness ratio of Comparative Example 1 (commercial product A) was 1.8, which was significantly higher than the tackiness of Comparative Example 2 (Vaseline).
That is, it was revealed that the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention has significantly lower tackiness and is less sticky than the commercially available product A (Comparative Example 1) and Vaseline (Comparative Example 2).

On the other hand, water-in-oil emulsion compositions (water repellents) containing film-forming agents other than silicone-based film-forming agents showed one or more of the following symptoms: separation, precipitation, or significant coloration, and had poor storage stability.
According to the method of Example 1, water-in-oil emulsion compositions (water repellents) having the compositions shown in Table 5 were prepared, and the storage stability of the water-in-oil emulsion compositions (water repellents) prepared in the same manner as in Test Example 2 was evaluated.
The amount of each component in the table represents mass % based on the total mass of the composition (water repellent).
Results: Water-in-oil emulsion compositions (water repellents) containing polyglycerin fatty acid esters such as polyglyceryl-6 polyricinoleate, polyglyceryl-2 isostearate, and polyglyceryl-2 oleate had good storage stability.
[Test Example 5: Water repellency test]
A certain amount of food coloring (red) dissolved in water was taken and applied to artificial skin (2.5 cm x 2.5 cm). After a few minutes, water, the water-in-oil emulsion composition of Example 1 (water repellent), a commercially available water-repellent skin care cream that does not contain petrolatum (hereinafter also referred to as "commercial product B"), and petrolatum (Comparative Example 2) were separately applied to the surface of the artificial skin to which the food coloring (red) had been applied, and the entire surface of the artificial skin was blended. After 8 hours and 24 hours, the artificial skin was immersed in 30 mL of water and stirred in a beaker for about 20 seconds to extract the coloring. The absorbance of the extract was then measured. The results of the absorbance measurement are shown in FIG. 1. Also, a photograph of the artificial skin after 8 hours (artificial skin washed with water) is shown in FIG. 2.
From the absorbance measurement results, the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of Example 1 has a smaller absorbance value than water, and is considered to have a sufficient water repellent effect even after 8 hours and 24 hours. In addition, the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of Example 1 has a better water repellent effect than commercial product B, and it was confirmed that the water repellent effect of the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of Example 1 is the same as that of Vaseline (Comparative Example 2). In addition, since the absorbance after 24 hours was almost the same as that after 8 hours, it was confirmed that the water repellent effect of the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of Example 1 continues.
[Test Example 6: Home Use Test (1)]
A home use test was conducted on 32 care recipients using the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of Example 1 and commercial product A (Comparative Example 1). Commercial product A (Comparative Example 1) was used for 5 to 7 days, followed by a 5-day non-use period, after which the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of Example 1 was used for 5 to 7 days, after which a questionnaire survey was conducted. The application sites of commercial product A and the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) were the buttocks of the care recipients. The results are shown in FIG. 3.
3, the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention was rated as having the same level of protective (water-repellent) effect as the commercially available product A, but the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention was rated higher in terms of usability such as moist feeling, spreadability, stickiness, and smooth feeling than the commercially available product A. In other words, the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention has the same level of water repellency as the commercially available product A, which contains petrolatum as the main component (98.8% by mass), but has a better usability than the commercially available product A.
In addition, among the above results, the fact that the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention is superior in stickiness and smoothness to the commercially available product A is consistent with the results of the tackiness (stickiness) test shown in Table 2.
[Test Example 7: Home Use Test (2)]
A home use test was conducted on 32 care recipients using the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of Example 1 and commercially available product B. After using commercially available product B for 5 to 7 days and then leaving a 5-day non-use period, the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of Example 1 was used for 5 to 7 days, after which a questionnaire survey was conducted. The areas where commercially available product B and the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) were applied were the buttocks of the care recipients. The results are shown in Figure 4.
4, the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention was evaluated as being about the same as commercially available product B in terms of spreadability, but the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention was evaluated as being higher in terms of protective (water repellent) effect and moist feeling (moisturizing power) than commercially available product B. In other words, the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention has a similar feel when used as commercially available product B, which is a water-repellent skin care cream that does not contain petrolatum, but has better water repellency than said commercially available product B.
In addition, among the above results, the fact that the water-in-oil emulsion composition (water repellent) of the present invention has a superior protective (water repellent) effect compared to the commercially available product B is consistent with the results of Test Example 5.
