Abstract

The present invention relates to a purification system of the gaseous mass emitted by internal combustion engines such as for example Diesel / Petrol / Methane which produce CO2 and other types of harmful substances. The exhaust system is a very important element of the engine. The important function of the exhaust system is to dispose of the gases in a safe, silent manner, and with particular attention to intervening on their polluting and harmful characteristics for the environment, in order to modify their polluting qualities as much as possible. In the latest generation engines there is great attention to the aspect of sustainability in the design of the outlet systems, the discharge of the gaseous mass and for the management of temperatures and system safety. To date, there is no patenting of a system that removes harmful polluting compounds from the gaseous mass emitted by the activity of the internal combustion engine that compromises the health of the air.

Description

ECOLOGICAL DEVICE APT TO SUCK COOL, PURIFY THE TOXIC PARTICLES OF WASTE GASES EMITTED BY INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES AND TO REDUCE THE ACOUSTICAL AND ATMOSPHERICAL POLLUTION

The described invention is made out of a cleaning system which reduce the gases emission in the internal burning activities of any type of engines such as Diesel/Fuel/Methane that produce CO2 and other harmful substances engines.
Technical stage
The exhaust system is an important part of the engine. Therefore, we must know that the muffler is only an element which helps the whole system to work properly. Let us look deeply into the composition of the whole structure.
Structure of the exhaust system
The exhaust system is a complex structure which begins from the engine and it ends to the edge of the car; it is divided into three different parts called the "exhaust induction", the central and the final.
Nowadays, the exhaust system, in addition to have many aims, it also reduces the pollution drastically supporting the sustainability of the ecosystem and maintaining the respect for the environment. The exhaust induction is made out of many pipes and cylinders which end up into a one siphon thanks to the flanges. At the end of the exhaust induction, just before the intermediate part which is connected to the silencer, there is the cable releases. The cable release absorbs the movements of the engine in the trunk. This is made out of a steel thread which wraps a helical spring with the components closed to each other. The last element is the muffler which absorbs the noise of the engine which is inevitably caused by the engine.
The function
The burning gases, once are released by the cylinder, manage to keep a big amount of internal energy. They have one main characteristics: they gain high speed when exposed at high temperatures. The exhaust system helps to reduce the pollution by getting rid of gases in a safe, silenced and eco- friendly manner. Sustainability is highly considered in projects for exhaust systems, however, there is not yet a patent for the pollution reduction system.
The new engines are built considering the sustainability of our environment by paying attention to the project of exhaust systems, the gases removal and the security and management of the whole scheme. Observing the chemical-physical function of the filtering system, we can underline that these helps to reduce the harmful gases which contribute to deteriorate the health of people as well as monuments, historic buildings and so forth. We must remember that the air pollution contribute to acid rainfalls which are lethal for our breathing system.

The future international guidelines regarding to the reduction of harmful gases from road vehicles (known as "Euro5" & "Euro6"), set out regulations with a low limit of molecules of NOx realized in the air.
Diesel engines are particularly involved in the concern so that they should have a new catalyst SCR (Selective Catalyst Reduction) for NOx in order to convert molecules of NOx (NO2 or NO) into nitrogen(N2).
In order to convert the NOx into N2 we need to add Ammonia (NH3) which helps the conversion by being introduced at the beginning of the exhaust system with the catalyst so that it can work with the harmful gases and reducing them beforehand.
The request for the patent of the eco-gadget, is about a cleaning system for harmful gases which are taken at the exit of the exhaust pipe and redirected inside the gadget which will have liquid components and other edges for cooling down and filtering solid harmful particles produced in the internal burnt of engines as well as industrial productions.
Invention Description
The aim of this invention is to offer to the industrial world the opportunity of reducing pollution by introducing the gadget to the exhaust systems through a durable joint in order to act upon gases before these come out in the atmosphere. The gadget will contain filtering barriers, set at its own entrance, which will be soaked in water. The water will help to decontaminate the filters which will be polluted by the gases. The main aim of the invention is to play part to the challenge of reducing drastically the CO2 in the atmosphere and which is responsible for the greenhouse effect. A high percentage of CO2 will be destroyed in order to improve noise pollution as well as air pollution; this can be done with volatile particles such as hydrocarbons HC, PM2.5, PMlO and CO2.
Means of uses
As we have already explained, the gadget helps to reduce the harmful particles in the mass gases which are usually spread into the atmosphere causing huge problems both for the environment as well as the human health. In order to be functional, the gadget is connected either internally or externally to the exhaust system of any transport or any sites which are enabled to have it by being adapted to it. Internally it is connected to the manifold, where the gases are subject to the first state of cleaning and cooling. Thanks to the filters, the solid harmful particles are neutralised and cleared, therefore, we will obtain the reduction of 70% of bad elements. These elements can biocarbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, nitrites, sulphate, PH carbon dioxide, oxygen, bicarbonate, hydrocarbons and so forth. The gadget is made out of: metals, plastic, resins, wood and other suitable materials. Both the shape and the measurements are adapted to the installation.

This table compare the information in the registration given without the eco-gadget (see yellow) and measurements with instruments and chemical lab analysis on the final product kept by the gadget (see green). We can see that the air is definitely cleaner and it has improved its quality as well as the exhaust gases of internal burning; the vehicle examined is registered before the year 2000 and it has a reduction of main harmful gases such as hydrocarbons HC, PM2.5, PM10 and CO2 which are clearly under the maximum percentage tolerate in the atmosphere. If we see the analysis of Decibel of the noise recorded by the acoustic instrument, (70db a 3750 round/Hr engine) and the registration (78 db a 3750round/Hr engine) we can realise that there is a high reduction of noise pollution.
Following analysis on 12 tests of liquids taken from an exhaust induction, we can see that these hold substances that normally are produced by internal burning engines.
From the table we can realise that the more cleaning steps are there the cleaner is the final product. The catalyst usually helps in the process by filtering and obtaining just CO2 and Nitrogen which are left in the atmosphere. Unfortunately, not always the cleaning process is satisfactory and many particles are not filtered. The water filtering, in fact, has help to contribute to absorb deeper the particles. We can see in the table the percentage of concentration of Hydrocarbons (IPA) and to come to the conclusion that the rapport water- oil is more efficient , in fact, the Benzo(a)pirene, Pirene, Dibenzo (a,h) antracene ed Indeno (l,2,3,c,d)pirene are hold in high percentage up to 30%. We must remember that these and cancerous for human being and they cause a DNA mutation in a long exposure circumstances.

Stage 1
The gadget has the function of taking the polluted air of a transport which will go through the metallic elements; these elements will reduce the power of the harmful gases through the water that is contained in the same recipient. The particles will become heavier and will go to the bottom of the gadget while other lighter will mix with other products.
Stage 2
Afterwards, the particles will go through a second chamber of the gadget where will be filtered again as it is in the first stage but with more suitable filters.
Stage 3
At this point, the gas mass already cooled and cleaned, will be directed to an exhaust pipe to be mixed with the air. N this stage there will be more power that the remain harmful particles will be destroyed on the road surface obtaining a clear and healthier air.
Positive sides both ecological and economic
These are the pro:
1. It can be used on any vehicles
2. Road restrictions connected to the reduction of pollution will be avoided by everybody
3. Road Traffic Officers and other professionals will not be in danger by breathing harmful air and, in addition, the greenhouse effect will be reduced 4. Even old vehicles will not be unsuitable for the improvement of air pollution so that even poor people can drive freely of restriction so that poverty will be reduced
Pick up and recycling of residues
The gadget particles can be considered "Main Material" so that it can be recycled and used in the industrial world: we can use it in the manufactory industry to make paints, bitumen for road etc. This means that we can create job opportunities and richness for the country.

Functions of the gadget. l.The gases is put through the gadget (see harrows) where is cooled, broken and purified. The liquid aid ( such as vegetable oil ) will help the function. In the gadget there are pieces of metal or plastic or wood or mixed (Picture 7 &8). At first the gas will go through the oil where the harmful particles will be kept. At this stage the air will be cooled and filtered and it will continue to be like that in the next passage. At the end, the air will be directed to a canal to the outsideenvironment.

Claims

Claims
1- Eco-friendly gadget for vehicles with internal exhaust system built mainly with an external casing with metal, plastic or synthetic cage in geometric shapes. It is internally covered by filtering materials; internally, there are one or more modules made out of struts which are connected through horizontal crossbars which are needed to support the grid layers. It is also made out of a metal channels which are positioned respectively one at the bottom and the other one at the end of it.
2- Eco-friendly gadget for vehicles with internal exhaust, built as described in claim 1, characterized by its internal modules equipped with filtering materials so are the flat grids which lay on top of the horizontal traversed that connect the pillars of the gadget.
3- Eco-friendly gadget for vehicles with internal exhaust, built as described in previous claims, characterized by the inner compartment arranged in an alternate way, with the opening at the top part for the first, and the bottom part for the second and so forth.
4- Eco-friendly gadget for vehicles with internal exhaust, built as described in previous claims, characterized by the artefact being supplied by filtering materials and immerged in chemical liquids.
5- Eco-friendly gadget as per claim 1, characterized by inspectorial points situated on the external involucre on top side for the control of the conditions of the properties of liquids in the system.
