Abstract
A bicycle (10) is for use by an operator, and the bicycle (10) includes a frame (16) having a front wheel (11) and a rear wheel (12) rotatably coupled thereto. An electric motor (30) is coupled to the frame (16) and configured to receive electrical energy from an energy storage device and drive at least one of the wheels (11) to thereby assist the operator in propelling the bicycle (10). A wind sensor (140) is configured to sense winds acting on the bicycle (10) and generate a measured wind sensor (140) input. A control system is operable to control a power output of the electric motor (30). The control system receives the measured wind sensor (140) input and controls the power output of the electric motor (30) based on the wind sensor (140) input.
