Description
WRISTWATCH AND PAGER
The system according to the present invention, consists of a wrist-watch with GPS tracking and communication functions via GSM network, to allow the user, in case of emergency, to communicate with third parties and ask for help.
As known, there are various portable devices, such as pendants, bracelets or similar items suitable to notify a state of emergency, making a series of calls to pre-recorded users. Said devices, belonging to the category of pagers, are basically telephone dialers, provided with a GSM module, in whose internal SIM memory, the user records some telephone numbers to call in case of emergency or sickness or any condition in which the user needs help.
Generally, such devices have commands which, once activated, start dialing the numbers in the telephone book looking for the registered users in order of priority, in order to alert the danger condition.
Other known devices are represented by digital watches provided with a software, suitable to communicate with one or more smartphones connected with the same, in order to display, on the watch face, information about applications downloaded on the smartphone. Such a type of known watch is also capable of locating the user, through the GPS module inside the smartphone to which is connected, and share this information.
A further known device is constituted by electronic watches with a GPS module inside, generally used for sport activities or for leisure. Said devices have a number of functions such as: barometer, altimeter, compass, thermometer and, of course, the tracking function to manage paths, routes and distances. GPS watches used for sport also have a series of characteristics that make them suitable for said specific purpose, such as the material they are made of, which make them resistant to shock, water, and elevated stress.
The aforementioned known devices have a series of drawbacks, for example, when a watch is associated with a smartphone, the so-called smartwatches, they provide information strictly dependent on the applications downloaded on the phone and displayed on the watch face, so that they cannot be used alone, but always in association with the smartphone to which they are connected, allowing the user to use the smartwatch as an extension of the smartphone, when the smartphone is put in the pocket or in another place.
A further drawback of smartwatches is that when the battery is running low, the device is no longer able to autonomously transfer information to the associated watch, and, also, it obliges the user, whenever he wants to use the smartwatch, to keep the two devices working in sync on charge.
Another drawback of the known devices, in the case of digital watches for sports use, is that they are not able to notify a state of danger or necessity, as they do not have the GSM module.
In case of pagers, instead, a drawback is due to the fact that they are limited exclusively to this function, obliging the user to use pendants and bracelets, not always aesthetically attractive, to wear and to be used only and exclusively for notifying a state of emergency.
The tracking wrist-watch and pager, object of the present invention, solves the above described problems, since, being provided with a GSM and an internal GPS module, it has the double function of being a pager and a watch, and, therefore, it can be used in various occasions, and not only for emergency.
Moreover, in order to work, the watch does not require any other associated devices, being completely autonomous and provided with an internal software that runs its applications. The choice of using a wrist-watch allows to solve both the aesthetic and practical problems of the common pagers, allowing the user to wear an ordinary item with more functionalities. Like the watches used for sports and hiking, the watch, object of the present invention, is made of
high impact and water resistance materials necessary for such activities, moreover, during the course of such activities, it avoids the use of additional devices such as the smartphone, so that the user can employ a single device.
Moreover, the watch is also provided with GSM and GPS signal indicators in order to direct the user to places covered by the network signal for safety reasons or to alert the user when he is in places where communication or tracking is not possible.
Finally, the watch according to the present invention, solves the problem of providing a device for locating and signaling a danger, capable of being activated autonomously in the event of an attempt to neutralize it.
This purpose is achieved by the tracking wrist- watch and pager, according to the present invention, hereinafter described, in a preferred embodiment non- limiting of further developments within the field of the patent, with the help of the attached drawings illustrating the following figures:
Fig. 1, a front isometric view of the tracking wrist-watch and pager;
Fig. 2, a rear isometric view of the watch when the SIM is inserted into the slot and when the telescopic arms are elongated;
Fig. 3, a view of the multifunction watch face;
Fig. 4, a rear isometric view of the watch with a partial section highlighting the internal GSM and GPS modules.
With reference to the attached drawings, the tracking wrist-watch and pager will be indicated, in the following description, with the number 1 and referred to as watch.
As shown in the attached drawings, the watch 1, object of the present invention, consists of a case 11, provided with a GSM 2 and GPS 3 module, a multifunctional face 12, a pair of call buttons 131 and 132, and at least two crowns 141 and 142 for setting and regulation functions.
As shown in Fig. 2, in the rear part of the case 11 there is a suitable slot 111, necessary to accommodate the SIM S, which will interact with the internal GSM module 2 of the watch 1, to make sure that the latter can function as a wrist-phone.
On the lateral surfaces of the case 11 of the watch 1 there are: on the right of the multifunctional face 12, a first crown 141, necessary, as in common watches, to adjust the hands 121 and, on the left of the multifunctional face 12, the two call buttons 131 and 132, along with the setting crown 142, placed centrally with respect to said call buttons 131, 132 and necessary to access the menus run by the software.
Moreover, the case 11 has, to its ends, lug ends 112 necessary to hook the strap C of the watch 1, of which at least one pair from one side, made extendible by means of two telescopic arms H3a, H3b.
The call button 131 has the task, once pressed, to start the cycle of emergency calls to the pre-recorded numbers, simultaneously notifying the geolocation; on the other end, the call button 132, when pressed, terminates the sequence of both the calls and the location notifications.
The cycle of emergency calls may be initiated, not only through the call button 131, but also by the sudden elongation of the telescopic arms H3a, H3b due to a tear off of the watch 1 following an attempt of theft or neutralization.
The setting crown 142 can access several functional menus run by the watch 1 software and displayed through a digital display 123 located inside the multifunctional face 12, in particular, among the available functions, there is the organization of the numbers, composed in sequence, of the pre-recorded users who are called in case of emergency and to whom the position of the user is provided at the same time.
A further important function of the crown 142 is to activate, after having typed a previously set password, the cycle of the emergency calls by pressing the call button 131, or following the elongation of the telescopic arms 1 l3a, 1 l3b caused by a sudden tear off.
Through the setting crown 142 is possible to access the menus, whereas the access to the submenus or the entry of alphanumeric characters is carried out by means of two buttons l24a, l24b on the upper part of the multifunction face 12.
On the upper part of the multifunctional face 12 there is a LED 122 which has the function to indicate the condition of the call in progress; said LED 122, being provided with dichromatic lights, can signal with a color, the condition in which the telephone of the person called is connected and, with a different color, the condition of switched-off or unreachable phone.
The watch 1 is also provided with a microphone 4 and a loudspeaker 5 which are activated when the sequence of calls in case of emergency has started; in such a specific condition, the microphone 4 allows third parties to listen to and monitor the status of the user. The microphone 4 is also necessary for giving voice commands without using the call buttons 131, 132 and such a mode is always run by the watch 1 software through the setting crown 142.
Moreover, in a preferred embodiment, the watch 1 has a wide-angle lens camera, suitable for making short videos which will be recorded both on the internal memory and on a remote database, so that the recorded images and sounds can be accessed also in case the watch 1 is damaged.
The presence of the internal GSM module 2, of the microphone 4 and the loudspeaker 5, in conditions different from those of an emergency, make the watch 1 as a wrist phone, with all the associated functions.
The intensity of the GSM signal is notified by a suitable indicator 125, located on the face 12 of the watch 1, said indicator 125 being also able to signal the places without network coverage.
Inside the watch 1, the GPS module 3 runs all the geo location functions, in particular, in case of emergency, it sends the user’s position to the pre-recorded numbers, while in all the other
conditions, such as during sport or leisure use, it runs the routes and all applications related to the user’s location.
Moreover, by means of the setting crown 142, it is possible to adjust the range in which the GPS module 3 calculates the geostationary position and in particular, in case of emergency, it is able to notify to the history of the last user’s route, to the called numbers.
Finally, for the GPS module 3 it is necessary to know the intensity and the places provided with satellite coverage, the latter being signaled by a suitable indicator with multiple LEDs 126 located inside the multifunctional face 12.
