Abstract
Devices and methods for determining and/or quantifying one or more analytes in fluids are generally provided. In some embodiments, the devices described herein may be designed such that two or more operations (e.g., lysing, magnetic separation, resuspension, mixing, and/or reacting) are conducted within one or more reaction chambers. The devices and methods described herein may be useful for determining and quantifying relatively low concentrations of analytes present in a patient sample (e.g., a droplet of whole blood, a droplet of plasma, a droplet of biological fluid). The analyte may be quantified, in some cases, by binding the analyte to a plurality of metal-containing particles and measuring current by changing a voltage on a working electrode. In some embodiments, the device is a microfluidic device.
