 図3は、本発明のホルダーが待機姿勢の状態のときの、上カバー2、下カバー4の組み合せを表す側面図であり、上カバーの刃先9は、下カバーの押え板15の先端16に接した状態で、ロールペーパー本体6を自重で軽く押えており、刃先9の前方、ロールペーパー本体6の上に、前回の切断縁22があり、切断縁22と、刃先9までのペーパー23(長さd)が、次回、使用時の摘み代23に使われるのである。切断縁22は、刃先9がペーパー切断後、上、下カバーの間に存在する、細長いコイルスプリング20の牽引力により、直ちに後退するので、ロールペーパー本体に密着する可能性は少ない。
