Definitions
- the present invention relates to a system for controlling a battery.
- the storage battery module which comprises a large sized secondary battery is comprised by connecting several battery cells in series and parallel.
- the battery module mounted in a hybrid electric vehicle or an electric vehicle includes a battery management device that detects voltage, current, temperature, and the like that are in a battery state.
- the battery system controller receives a notification regarding the battery state from the battery management device, and controls the operation of the battery according to the battery state.
- Lithium-ion batteries not only greatly deteriorate in performance when overcharged or overheated, but also increase the risk of fire and explosion. For this reason, it is necessary to take measures such as immediately disconnecting the battery from the external circuit when overcharging or overheating is detected. Therefore, it is considered important to provide a mechanism that immediately notifies the battery system controller of the abnormal state of the battery as described above.
- Patent Document 1 describes that a communication system for normal communication and a communication system for abnormality notification are provided between controllers of a non-contact power transmission device.
- a first communication path for normal communication and a second communication path for notifying battery abnormality are provided between the battery management device and the battery system controller, and battery management is performed.
- an abnormality occurs in the battery monitored by the apparatus, it is considered that the abnormality is notified to the battery system controller using the second communication path.
- Patent Document 1 is considered to assume 1: 1 communication between controllers.
- a plurality of battery management devices are provided corresponding to a plurality of batteries. Therefore, 1: N (plurality) of communication may occur between the battery system controller and the battery management device. Then, when a plurality of battery management devices notify the battery system controller of battery abnormality at the same time, communication may interfere with each other, particularly in a system that notifies battery abnormality using wireless communication.
- the communication period is divided into a plurality of time slots, and different time slots are allocated to the respective battery management apparatuses, and each battery management apparatus notifies the battery on a predetermined cycle. It is also conceivable to configure the system as described above. However, in this configuration, even if the battery management device detects a battery abnormality, it is necessary to wait until it reaches a pre-assigned time slot, so the detected battery abnormality is immediately notified to the battery system controller. It may not be possible.
- the present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a battery control system that can immediately notify a battery system controller of an abnormality when a battery abnormality occurs. To do.
- the battery control system includes a first communication unit that wirelessly transmits battery data using a first frequency, and a second communication unit that wirelessly transmits abnormal data using a second frequency.
- the first communication unit transmits the battery data at a predetermined cycle, and the second communication unit transmits the abnormality data when a battery abnormality is detected.
- the battery control system according to the present invention can immediately notify a battery system controller of a battery abnormality. Thereby, safety can be improved.

- Battery system controller 200 communicates wirelessly with battery management device 100 and acquires battery data describing the state of battery 110 detected by battery management device 100. Further, when the battery management apparatus 100 detects an abnormality in the battery 110, the abnormality data describing the abnormality is acquired by wireless communication. In wireless communication between the battery management apparatus 100 and the battery system controller 200, the battery system controller 200 operates as a master and the battery management apparatus 100 operates as a slave. The battery management device 100 acquires the state of the battery 110 in accordance with a request from the battery system controller 200 and transmits battery data to the battery system controller 200.
- FIG. 3 is a timing chart for explaining a wireless communication sequence between the battery system controller 200 and the battery management apparatus 100.
- the communication period is divided into a plurality of time slots, and different time slots are assigned to the respective battery management apparatuses 100 in advance.
- the battery system controller 200 is denoted by reference symbol BC.
- the BC sends a request (beacon command) instructing to acquire the state of each battery 110 to all CCs simultaneously in a predetermined time slot.
- Each CC that has received the beacon command acquires the state of the battery 110 to which it is connected.
- the battery management device 100 transmits battery data to the transmission / reception device 210 of the battery system controller 200 using the frequency F1. Since the communication by each CC is divided by time slots, the battery data of each battery 110 can be notified to the BC without the radio communication by each CC interfering with the radio communication by other CCs.
- a mechanism is provided in which the CC that detects the abnormality of the battery 110 can immediately notify the BC of the abnormal data.
- FIG. 4 is a timing chart example of wireless communication between the BC and the CC when the CC detects an abnormality of the battery 110 in the first embodiment.
- CC1 detects an abnormality in the battery 110 connected to itself.
- CC1 transmits the abnormal data describing the abnormal state to the transmission / reception circuit 250 at the frequency F2 (different from the frequency F1).
- the transmission / reception circuit 250 receives the abnormal data at the frequency F2, and the CPU 220 recognizes the battery abnormality detected by the CC1 according to the abnormal data.
- CC1 Since the frequency F1 for transmitting battery data and the frequency F2 for transmitting abnormal data are different, it does not matter whether the time slot at which CC1 transmits battery data and the time at which abnormal data is transmitted overlap. Therefore, CC1 can transmit abnormal data immediately upon detecting a battery abnormality without waiting for a time slot for transmitting battery data. Thereby, the battery system controller 200 can recognize the battery abnormality detected by CC1 at an early stage.
- FIG. 5 is a diagram showing a modification of the time chart shown in FIG.
- the transmission / reception circuit 250 When receiving abnormal data from the battery management device 100 (CC1 in FIG. 5), the transmission / reception circuit 250 returns an acknowledgment (ACK) to that effect. If CC 1 receives ACK from the transmission / reception circuit 250 after transmitting abnormal data, CC 1 terminates the processing related to abnormal data and returns to normal operation. If the ACK cannot be received, there is a possibility that the communication line between the transmission / reception circuit 250 and the CC 1 is not operating normally, so abnormal data is transmitted to the transmission / reception circuit 210 instead of the transmission / reception circuit 250. To do. Specifically, the battery data and the abnormal data are transmitted to the transmission / reception circuit 210 using the frequency F1 in the time slot for transmitting the battery data.
- the battery management apparatus 100 As a method for determining whether or not the battery management apparatus 100 has received an ACK from the transmission / reception circuit 250, for example, (a) after waiting for a predetermined time after sending out abnormal data, the ACK was not received within the waiting time. In the case, it is determined that the ACK reception has failed. (B) If the ACK is not received in the above (a), the same processing is further repeated a predetermined number of times. A method such as determining that a failure has occurred can be considered.
- FIG. 6 is a view showing a modification of the time chart shown in FIG.
- the battery management apparatus 100 CC1 in FIG. 6
- the battery management apparatus 100 checks whether another CC is transmitting the abnormal data before transmitting the abnormal data.
- the radio circuit 140 is set in a reception state for a predetermined time (detection period in FIG. 6) using the frequency F2, and the reception intensity of the frequency F2 is checked to determine whether another CC is communicating using the frequency F2. Check.
- the time required for another CC to transmit abnormal data (waiting period in FIG. 6) After waiting, it confirms again whether other CC is communicating using the frequency F2.
- CC1 repeats the same processing, and transmits abnormal data when it is confirmed that another CC is not communicating using the frequency F2. Thereby, it can avoid that the radio
- the battery system controller 200 notifies the host vehicle controller 310 of the abnormal data of the battery 110.
- the vehicle controller 310 takes measures such as (a) operating the relay switch 320 to cut off the current flowing into the battery 110 and (b) changing the frequency of the inverter 330.
- the energization current to the battery 110 in which an abnormality has occurred is limited. Thereby, the safety of the battery system 1000 can be improved.
- the battery system 1000 mounted on a vehicle has been described as an example.
- the battery system 1000 according to the first embodiment can be applied to an industrial power storage device or the like.
- an example in which a lithium ion battery is used as the secondary battery has been described.
- a lithium ion battery is used as the secondary battery.
- not only the lithium ion battery but also other types of secondary batteries such as a nickel metal hydride battery and a lead storage battery are used.
- the first embodiment can be applied. The same applies to the following embodiments.
- FIG. 7 is a timing chart illustrating a wireless communication sequence between the battery system controller 200 and the battery management device 100 according to Embodiment 2 of the present invention. Since the configuration of the battery system 1000 is the same as that of the first embodiment, the following description focuses on the differences related to FIG.
- the battery management apparatus 100 (CC1 in FIG. 7) checks the time until the next time slot for transmitting battery data is reached before transmitting abnormal data.
- this time is within a predetermined time (for example, within one time slot)
- CC1 transmits abnormal data in a predetermined time slot together with battery data using frequency F1.
- abnormal data is transmitted by the same method as in the first embodiment.
- the radio circuit 140 When the time to reach the next time slot for transmitting battery data is within the predetermined time, if abnormal data is transmitted using the frequency F2 without using the time slot, the radio circuit 140 and There is a possibility that the antenna 150 is occupied for this purpose and battery data that should be transmitted cannot be transmitted. Then, the BC that has transmitted the beacon command cannot normally receive battery data, and thus may determine that an abnormality has occurred in CC1. Also from the viewpoint of avoiding such misjudgment, the method of the second embodiment is useful.
- the battery system controller 200 requests the battery management device 100 to transmit battery data by transmitting a beacon command.
- the time slot for transmitting the beacon command can be defined in advance.
- the wireless circuit 140 and the antenna 150 are occupied for that purpose if the abnormality data is immediately transmitted.
- the beacon command that should be received cannot be received. Therefore, in the third embodiment of the present invention, a configuration example will be described in which abnormal data can be reliably notified even in such a situation.
- FIG. 8 is a timing chart illustrating a wireless communication sequence between the battery system controller 200 and the battery management apparatus 100 according to the third embodiment.
- an abnormality has occurred in the plurality of batteries 110 immediately before the beacon command as described above.

Abstract
